Electrical Problem

I bought a 91 Accord about two weeks ago. I then had an alarm put on it. I think the little light from the alarm is draining and already bad battery. Problem is it use to take two days of the car just sitting around to drain it. It drain it overnight today. I jumped it, then when I got to work it died to where I couldn't even turn the alarm on or off. The all of a sudden it had power again. Anyhelp would be greatly appreaciated.

Also When I was driving to worktoday every time I hit the brake the car would loose power for a split second. My civic that I have has been doing that for the past month, only that one is when I hit the brake or the signal lights.

This is probably not related but the stereo from the civic is now in the Accord.

Well, I would say there's definitely a charging problem. Until you said it suddenly had power again. It sounds like there's a bad connection somewhere. And just to make sure, it wouldn't hurt to get a new batter and Altenator. There could be a problem with the battery not holding a charge (dead cell) or a problem with the alt. not properly charging the battery

You think I should just get a new battery first and then take it from there. Will an auto parts store test my current battery? Thanks

Any parts house will test the battery for you and will also test the altertnator to see if it is charging. Both are very easy tasks and most will do for free.

Exactly.

You can start with a new battery. Sears can raplace the battery and test the charging system for free
