99 Sunfire Something's Up With My Brakes!chaser84 02-03-2005, 07:42 PM Ok! Here's the Deal! I've had my car for about 2 weeks and all the sudden today I noticed a kind of chug-chug noice when I applied the brakes. I tried putting on the clutch and the brakes then just the brakes. I came to the conclusion it's just the brakes. It happens almost randomly..not everytime I brake and it doesn't seem to matter which gear I'm in and sometimes the noise is louder then others... I have no idea.. my roommate said it might be the wheel baring..and he thought it was solely in the front passenger side.. NO CLUE!! If anyone has any idea please tell me! GTP Dad 02-03-2005, 08:00 PM This doesn't sound like a wheel bearing since it only happens when you push the brake pedal. I would pull the front wheel and look at the brake rotor and pads. The pads may be going bad and you are hearing the pads rubbing against the rotor. Also you may have a rotor that is not true. Do you feel a pulsation in the pedal? If not then it is probably just the pads. Simple fix costs a few bucks for new pads. If the rotor is bad too or needs turned you can buy new ones for a reasonable price. hopeless4life 02-03-2005, 09:20 PM Could also be your first experience with the shitty GM abs system, i remember mine i thought the whole car was comin apart pacman99 02-06-2005, 01:39 PM yea i have a similar problem. When it's a bit slippery out and I try to brake (and no, not suddenly), my brakes start making banging noises and starts vibrating. I thought the ABS system was MADE to HELP me in slippery conditions hehe. I got the brakes checked out just in case....they said nothing was wrong w/ 'em~ Dah well~ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
