timingmilkman672042000 02-03-2005, 06:10 PM i wrote a while back and said that my geo wasnt getting good gas milage and compression was down in all thre cylinders to about 130 across the board i figured it had to be the timing if all three went down at once so i started it and moved the distrubitor and sure as hell it started running much better the timing belt is less than 8 monthes old and less than 10 thousand miles i put it on myself and know it was as tight as it could be i was wondering if the timing belts in the geos are known for slipping or if something was wrong with something electronical to make it do this geozukigti 02-04-2005, 11:43 AM Ignition timing and valve timing are 2 completely different things. Either won't affect your compression. If your valve timing is so far off you're losing compression, you'll have 0 compression. What you did is advance the ignition timing. Be careful. You could get dangerous pre-ignition like that. Your compression will remain VERY low, but the output of the engine will be up.
