87 F150 won`t startrollin_z 02-02-2005, 09:39 AM The other morning I went to go to work and my truck would not start. I checked for fuel and spark, and have both. Checked timing it`s in time It has fuel pressure.I checked fuses and a couple relays, they all checked out. The engine will turn over like it wants to start, but even when I spray starting fluid in the air intake, It doesn`t even sound like it wants to start. any Ideals? Thanks in advance. Rollin_z FORDTRACMAN 02-02-2005, 01:56 PM Where did you check for spark, and how?How did you check timing if it won't start? What did your fuel pressure read? How long since last tune-up?Are spark plugs wet?How long since last fuel filter change? INFO Please Report Back- some one will be better able to help. rollin_z 02-03-2005, 06:53 PM Where did you check for spark, and how?How did you check timing if it won't start? What did your fuel pressure read? How long since last tune-up?Are spark plugs wet?How long since last fuel filter change? Checked timing with number one cylinder at tdc and timing light, which read just about ten degrees. I checked fuel pressure at fuel pump and at fuel injector rail, It read 15 lbs. My last tune up was less than a year ago, I replaced wires, plugs, cap and rotor, and also checked timing. Spark plugs appear fine, good color fuel mixture seems fine. Fuel filter also appears fine. I am starting to think it may be something electrical, some kind of control module or sensor? The morning it last started, it ran for a few seconds and then quit, and hasn`t stared since. Thanks again. Rollin z FORDTRACMAN 02-03-2005, 08:22 PM I believe your fuel pressure should be between 25 and 42 or near that. FORDTRACMAN 02-03-2005, 08:34 PM I don't know for sure-tell us what engine you have. Some one will give you correct fuel pressure.Could very well be a fuel pressure regulator. mustangmike351c 02-04-2005, 09:02 PM you should have a least 40psi on your fuel check the pump on the rail thats your pressure pump make sure its working you could just have a bad fuse or something like that arden1963 02-06-2005, 08:50 PM did you check spark . it may spark but not hot,it should be blue or white or check crank senser at bottom of pulley if that aint it then replace module on front of distributer or replace the whole thing, the distributer, there cheap. arden1963 02-06-2005, 08:53 PM did you check spark . it may spark but not hot,it should be blue or white or check crank senser at bottom of pulley if that aint it then replace module on front of distributer or replace the whole thing, the distributer, there cheap. and you should have 90 pounds of pressure on the fuel side mustangmike351c 02-08-2005, 10:45 PM theres no crank sensor on the 87 and the fuel pressure should be around 40psi jcougar88 02-13-2005, 02:08 AM The other morning I went to go to work and my truck would not start. Rollin_z check ignition rotor again. May be a hairline crack not visible unless you inspect it very closely. change it again anyway, real cheap. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
