i just had a new timing belt put on my 1991 geo metro 1.0 liter 3 cylinder non interference engine manual transmission. after driving the car 10-15 miles it started to bog and backfire. now when you start the car it will barely idle and is flooding. what could this problem be, car ran strong b4 the timing belt went, could be putting a timing belt on cause new problems?

Did you put it on or did someone else? It sounds like it jumped time from your description

Perhaps he didn't tension the belt properly. Any timing belt should be installed, ran for a little while till the engine is hot, and re-tensioned. Sounds like the tensioner backed off, or the belt stretched.
