Unlocking 4 wheel drive front hubsmrcrabbiepattie 01-31-2005, 10:36 AM Is it possible to disconnect the 4 wheel drive from the front wheels? have any 04 Z71 jeverett 01-31-2005, 11:00 AM Nope. These trucks don't have locking hubs like old 4x4's... mytruckco 01-31-2005, 11:46 AM They use CV's. like most modern cars. They disconnect at the pumpkin when you shift into 2wd, but everything outboard of the pumpkin always turns. The CV has a spline on it that slides into the back of the hub body. Short of removing the CV therer is nothing you can do. abaird 02-01-2005, 11:45 AM There is a product called 4x4 posi-lok positive axle engagement. One thing it allows you to do is have 2wd low range. Im guessing that is why you asked. I don't know how it works but It cant be used on the auto trac transfer case. It is $200, if you need more info, like where to find it just ask. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
