My b2600i has a probem starting, but only in cold weather. It makes a terrable grinding noise. It sounds like it's just grinding the teeth off of the fly-wheel. I think it could be the colenoide because the starter seams to be turning just fine, just not hooking up with the fly-wheel. What I realy nead is some detailed instructions on how to get this dang starter off. Because it seems realy stuffed in there and I can't get a wrench in to remove it. Even if I could I couldn't get it out because all the electronics around it and other engine components.

I have a '91. I replaced the starter last month. I don't have detailed instructions. Unhook the battery. Attack the starter from the bottom and pull it out. Seems like there is only three bolts holding it on, plus the 2-3 electrical wires. Then start fishing! Pull it on outa there. I am not fond of laying on the ground, but that's how I did mine. Good luck!

Also make sure when you get the sarter out to put wrench on the crank bolt and roll the flywheel around and visually check for damage on the flywheel .....missing teeth as an example, etc.
