97 camry v6 idle problem

When slowing down to a stop the rpm's on my camry will drop very low (i.e. 400rpm) before recovering. When the car is warm the idle will return to the normal 900 rpm range just prior to stopping. When the car is cold it will sometimes stall when the rpm's decline. I have tuned the car up within the last 15,000 miles (new plugs, new wires, new airfilter...) and have also cleaned the injectors and the problem persists. Any recommendations?

if your car is a camry 92-96 with high mileage there is a good chance that your idle speed control valve (ISP) also called AIC (air intake control valve) is dirty and is not fuctioning properly. Serach this site for info regarding that. Spraying Throttlr body cleaner into the P port is an easy test to rule that out. (check this forum fort he procedure). Another posibility is the EGR valve that is getting borderline accumulating carbon deposits.

Thanks for the info..I'm trying to find the idle control valve and will clean it as you suggested.

Did you change the PCV valve? This part is only a few dollars. I would change this part too, since you did a tune-up recently. The IAC should be located under the intake body and has a wire harness connected to it. You need an Allen wrench (if I remembered correctly) to remove the IAC valve. This part is very expensive. I had to replace mine a few years ago because my car wouldn't turn over everytime I start or the engine die out when I come to a complete stop.
