Gimme the F430 any day. DinanM3_S2 01-30-2005, 05:54 PM The SLR really is in a class of its own. Benz calls it something like a "super tourer" and it really doesn't compare to the Carrera GT and the Enzo type cars, its just too heavy. Really the SLR is closest to the likes of the Aston Martin Vanquish S and the Ferrari 575m. Personally, between those two cars I'd rather the Ferrari, its just a sexier car. Even though the Benz might be the quicker car, its hard for me to choose the Benz name over Ferrari. I also wouldn't at all be suprised if the Ferrari was much more fun to drive, even with the price difference. NISSANSPDR 01-30-2005, 06:00 PM Ferrari F430...they improved upon an already excellent chassis and motor that the 355, and 360 had...this one is damn amazing! hockeygod2787 02-01-2005, 02:29 AM F430 anyday crayzayjay 02-01-2005, 06:59 AM The F430 is far better looking and more focused than the SLR, and sounds almost as good. It gets my vote. drunken monkey 02-01-2005, 07:28 AM but which one could you drive across country with a full company of luggage, in comfort? just what is the comparison here? are we just looking at numbers or what they do or what we prefer? crayzayjay 02-01-2005, 07:33 AM I'm guessing it's what we prefer... fairladyz_gt-r 02-01-2005, 09:13 AM SLR, its more rare, more comfortable, and is easy to drive fast in. NISSANSPDR 02-01-2005, 09:20 AM SLR, its more rare, more comfortable, and is easy to drive fast in. I havent seen either so they are both rare to me... fairladyz_gt-r 02-01-2005, 09:25 AM I havent seen either so they are both rare to me... What i mean is that, since the F430 is a replacement for 360, then is going to be mass produce, while the SLR isn't is hand build in small amount. (i know is not a limited run but from the speed of production we won't see too much of it on the road when compared to F430) Neutrino 02-01-2005, 10:18 AM mass produced for an exotic. It will still be a very rare sight unless you live in Monaco or other such place. So i would not worry about exclusivity with the F430. The reason however most people here choose the F430 is because its a true drivers car, and a proper sport car while the SLR is just a super GT. I also find the thread title quite apropiate since the SLR is more mercedes than McLaren. Polygon 02-01-2005, 12:33 PM The 430 has my vote hands down for one reason alone, it has a manual. What is it with Merc and automatics? Would it kill them to have a manual as an option? Also the 430 looks better, is more of a drivers car, cheaper, and it is a Ferrari. drunken monkey 02-01-2005, 02:54 PM cos they don't know how to make a good gearbox but are too proud to go and outsource one? you have to admit, their autobox is better than most others on the market...... Polygon 02-01-2005, 03:15 PM cos they don't know how to make a good gearbox but are too proud to go and outsource one? you have to admit, their autobox is better than most others on the market...... True, it is good, for an auto. drunken monkey 02-01-2005, 06:26 PM but then i should say that the only mercedes autobox i've had experience with is the one in the old slk230. it wasn't brilliant but it didn't do the annoying shift up/down at unwanted moments that my mum's old fiesta gearbox does. crayzayjay 02-01-2005, 06:31 PM Mercs make the best slushboxes as far as im concerned. jcsaleen 02-01-2005, 07:59 PM but which one could you drive across country with a full company of luggage, in comfort? just what is the comparison here? are we just looking at numbers or what they do or what we prefer? its all about what you prefer. Master Hiko 02-05-2005, 10:07 PM all the crap they did to the SLR is just redundant. you make the ridiculously overpriced because of the body material to make it light. then you stick a thousand lbs of junk into it. stupid. even it was very light, i would pick the 430. sexy as hell and fast. my dad has a 360 and i love it. if i want an AT, ill get the F1 so no points for merc in that aspect. i would love to have either though. and who buys a car like those to drive cross country? thats what your other car is for. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
