rear seals keep going out! please help?russellcframe 01-30-2005, 10:30 AM My dad's '94 3500 Diesel has had the rear seals replaced 4 times in the last few years. They just went out again with little more than a month of use. Has had them replaced by Chevy dealer, Goodwrench, Les Swab, and another large local brake/tire/drivetrain place. If anyone has some ideas on how to resolve this once and for all please let me know. He's been told this has a "floating axel" which may contribute to this, but we have no idea what that means or why it's an excuse for the constant failure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -Russ kenny-1907 01-30-2005, 11:23 AM My dad had a half ton once that the axle seals went out on shortly after they were changed and the garage found that one of the axles were bent. I don;t now if this is the situation with your dads truck , but i know that on my dads truck , they did not leak again. Hope this helps. rrousou 01-31-2005, 02:55 PM check the diff breather vent and make it isn't plugged and that the diff isn't overfilled with fluid. Also make sure no burrs where the seal rides vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
