as far as the codes people post on here most of them either come from an autozone scanning or a handheld code reader you can buy. Autozone will scan codes for free. The handheld reader I think costs around $40-70. I have seen them in the papaer for 70 but I think there are cheaper models fro around the 40 range.

As far as what type of oil to use it is mainly a preference. A lot of people will switch to synthetic at a high mileage. Some prefer to use synthetic no matter what mileage. I know that topic has been discussed numerous times on here.

The outcome is if you go with synthetic most people end up with Mobil 1. If you go with regular I think Valvoline wasd the end result.

Autozone for free code reading.

For engine oil,

Synthetic

Mobil 1 5w30

Conventional

Castrol GTX 5w30

Oil Filter:

NOT FRAM! Anything else will be fine.
