Hi,
I just had a truck pretty much restored the way i wanted it by a guy i knew and now it just needs paint. I was wondering what exactly id need to do to be able to do it myself. I know id need a compresser and all that but what would be the acual steps for painting.
1.sand
2.Primer
3.Paint
4.?
5.?
what else would i need to do?

Also I im looking into my first real car project, restoring an old nova thats a rust bucket and practice painting on that. I want to put an old 400 in it and i was just wondering about what id have to do to it to do an engine swap from inline 6. I know motor mounts, new tranny, and new exhaust. Id need a better coil too right? Or is there any tips you guys could give on any of this?

THanx

Painting and body work: take a night class at the local college or tech school. As for the engine swap: depends on how early Nova you are doing. I'm doing a 62 with a 327 hooked to the original powerglide. For the early Novas, you will need v-8 frame mounts, v-8 throttle arm from gas pedal linkage, radiator spacer to move closer to engine, ram horn style exhaust manifolds, and relocate fuel line on the outside of front subframe and then back into the front area to fuel pump. This procedure is found in the Nova assemble manual for v-8 installations. It keeps the fuel line from the exhaust. Hope this helps.

Use wax and grease remover between all the processes to keep every thing silicone free. In addition you need to color sand 1200-1500 grit paper and then polish the paint to get it glass smooth.
