Z24 S/C Vs Camaro Z28 LT1-Jayson- 01-29-2005, 10:52 PM well im not positive that it was an Z28, but it did have duel exhaust, a mean sounding engine, and an automatic shifter. Story time! Im driving home on telegraph when ahead of me i see a Black mid 90s camaro ahead of me. I pull up behind it to check its exhaust and see if its worth racing. Boyah, duel exhaust. I move over a lane to see the driver and get lined up, at first to my dissapointment it was 2 chicks in the car. Normally its hard to get a race with girls, so i dont bother trying. We pull up to a light, neither one reving, light turns green and she takes off a little hard as do i, i think we both wanted to lead the pack down the road. Anways just as we start to get going, maybe 10 MPH, shes a little ahead of me, so i punch it and at the same time she does. Damn wrong time for me to punch it, the road was all bumpy from tire tracks and i got some massive torque steer and squealing. I almost side swipped her. Anways after a few seconds i get traction again i look over and im pretty even with the camaro. Then to my utter suprise i start walking, i stay on it till about 80 MPH to which point i had atleast a car length on the camaro. She gives up and i begin to slow down, then this is my favorite part. Shes does that avoidance thing, where you wont catch up to the car you just lost too, finally i slow down enough to the point where she has to catch up to me. She asks me to roll down my window and we had a quick chat. Her "You got some kind of engine work? Me "Yeah" and i just smile Her "what?" Me "A supercharger" with a big grin on my face Her "Yeah, i was like no fucking way hes beating me" Me "yeah i get that alot, good race so long" She waves i wave, and go our seperate ways. Now im not 100% of wheather it was a Z28 or not, but im positive it wasnt an LS1. It did have the duel exhaust, and it looked like the stock nasty ones they used to use. The Camaro was also an automatic. dampachi 01-29-2005, 11:09 PM I don't think you'd have beat an LT1 that bad...but I don't think a V6 would stick with you that much..It probably was an LT1...but she probably didn't go wide open until you were already infront of her. but eitherway..nice race. Mr. Luos 01-29-2005, 11:25 PM I don't think you'd have beat an LT1 that bad...but I don't think a V6 would stick with you that much..It probably was an LT1...but she probably didn't go wide open until you were already infront of her. but eitherway..nice race. Exactly what I was thinking. Judging by your trap times, an LT1 and you should be a good run. Unless the LT1 was just ragged on. Tired motor. Congrats on the kill. CamaroSSBoy346 01-29-2005, 11:26 PM yeah. Those LT1's can be pesky. I lost to an LT1 in my LS1! :o maybe it had 2-something gears -Jayson- 01-29-2005, 11:32 PM yeah i really wish i had looked for something more than duel exhaust now. . . i was thinking that if it was an LT1, the automatic trans along with it being a little older looking might have been the reason i won. Or it could have been a v6 with aftermarket exhuast, but i would think i would have beatin that one by alot more than that. dampachi 01-29-2005, 11:47 PM I look for a Z28 emblem myself. :icon16: chevytrucks92 01-30-2005, 12:18 AM yeah i really wish i had looked for something more than duel exhaust now. . . i was thinking that if it was an LT1, the automatic trans along with it being a little older looking might have been the reason i won. Eitherway, good race, and a win is a win, lol. Igovert500 01-30-2005, 12:21 AM Nice run Jayson -Jayson- 01-30-2005, 10:01 AM i wouldnt blame you guys if you doubted me, i seriously look at my 1320 and compare it to those and without it a doubt it looks like this car and others ive raced should whipe the floor with me. i3o2Matt 01-30-2005, 12:34 PM nice run...i would love to run against a V8 camaro and be able to stand a chance...maybe for my next car...lol civicHBsi91 01-30-2005, 01:19 PM Exactly what I was thinking. Judging by your trap times, an LT1 and you should be a good run. Unless the LT1 was just ragged on. Tired motor. Congrats on the kill. LT1 trapping 91 mph?.... I would think they trap alittle higher than that. more like 95+ stock? depending on driver. Boosted1 01-30-2005, 02:24 PM I wouldn't doubt it. Your trap speed is low, but I'm guessing you have traction issues. As you've said before, your car pulls harder at higher speeds than lower speeds also, so your highway kills are easily believable for sure. -Jayson- 01-30-2005, 02:41 PM no its not traction problems, i stick great at the line, i dont even squeak with a 2,000 RPM launch. The problem with my times is that once i hit 4th gear around 70 MPH, it just dies untill about 85MPH. 4th gear is the overdrive gear so its really long. I pull a 2.0 60 ft, and my 1/8 9.375@73.66. Id really like to race someone these forums so they can actually see what my car does, instead of bench racing it. dampachi 01-30-2005, 03:50 PM I'd love to race you if you were ever in MD. Boosted1 01-30-2005, 03:55 PM I'd race you if 1) you lived anywhere near me, and 2) if my car wouldn't fall apart during the race. dampachi 01-30-2005, 03:59 PM He lives in Michigan. -The Stig- 01-30-2005, 04:48 PM It might very well of been a V6 Camaro. I say this becuase my friend is dating a chick who has a '98 3.8L V6 Camaro 5 speed with an exhaust and dual pipes. When he pulled up driving it, I thought it was a Z28. Even though I knew it was a V6 from talking to her earlier. I didn't realise she had exhaust. Had me fooled. Only time I could tell it wasn't a Z28 was when he'd rev it up, or when he left and got on it a bit. You could tell it didn't have the cubic inches nor the gumption of a LT1, or in her case a LS1. Anywho, good stuff. -Jayson- 01-30-2005, 11:51 PM well type S and i are going to go race a Milan Drag strip atleast one time this summer!! YOU BETTER BE IN MICHIGAN THIS SUMMER! street_racer_00 01-31-2005, 01:02 AM Either way, the chick probably shit her pants when she lost to a cavy...haha. TypeS 01-31-2005, 11:57 AM Haha, yeah man, I'll be moving to Michigan later this year. Tired of driving back and forth all the time. I just got back from there last night at 12 am. :screwy: We have to race before that though because it's getting pretty boring without any races :grinno: -Jayson- 01-31-2005, 01:22 PM yes i know, michigan for the most part is dead in the winter when it comes to racing. Where you planning on moving too? TypeS 01-31-2005, 01:35 PM yes i know, michigan for the most part is dead in the winter when it comes to racing. Where you planning on moving too? No idea yet, but not too far from Livonia. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
