anyone have any clue as the the difference in performance numbers on the 287 hp z's and the 300 hp ones? what are the 0-60s like for the new 300 hp ones, because i know there was a loss in torque.

i dont think the new z with 300hp is worth the money. get your self the z with 287 and boltons. it would be alot cheaper

I think now it has bought intake and exhaust variable valve timing.

The 300hp VQ35DE was dubbed 'Rev Up' by some. The redline has been raised, and the peak power comes in at a higher rpm level(7000rpm vs 6400, I think). It does lose a bit of low end torque, and peak torque isn't as high.

However, the character of the VQ35DE is sportier because of the higher revs, fixing a complaint some had with the engine.

Before making a decision on which version to get, it'd be worth your while to drive both. If you like the 'Rev Up' VQ35DE, but don't like paying for the Track model or 35th anniverary edition, you can always wait until '06. I think all Z models get the 300hp then.

so if all they did is raise the rev ... couldnt someone just do that them selves with a programmer and get the same results

No they appear to have added variable valve timing to the exhaust ports not just an ECU change.

The 300HP model got a few changes, the lower intake plenum has shorter intake runners to improve air flow, it also has variable valve timing on BOTH sides this time (intake/exhaust), and that's about all we know so far. We are still trying to figure out what all was changed.

300HP models are dyno'ing at ~250rwhp and the SAME rwtq as 287hp models. I say go for the 300HP model if you have the extra money.

I'd get the newest 300hp model, alot of people hate because they bought themselves the older version. I myself have an older version but in a heartbeat take the 300hp version.
