Does anyone know how to remove this plastic connector? We tried prying it off and it won't come off. Radiator fan not working, already checked relay and it is working. I took picture of the connector, but can't attach to this thread. Thanx.

There is a tang you push in on the side of the connector you cannot see. Sometimes they pop off very easy and other times they can drive you nuts!

The tang is very small and try squeezing it in about a quarter inch down from the top of the connector. :banghead:

Tominator2000 - Thank you for your response. I have been pressing both sides of the connector, can't feel any tang there. I even used a mirror to see all the sides of it and can't determine a tang. There are tiny, less than 1/8 inch rubber tabs coming out of each side facing the firewall, but nothing happens when I press them and pull. I tried using pliers and still not able to pull it off. Any additional help is appreciated. ... feeling helpless! :screwy:

It is hard to describe. When I switched motors it REALLY helped to see the connector on the sensor on the new motor as the connector was in place and even then the one on the car was a BIXTCH! :lol2: :icon16: :evillol:

It is SOOOOO small you might be missing it with a mirror...try a magnifing glass AND a mirror! :eek7:

It is a rocker affair. You push and the other end disconnects the tang on the sensor....maybe... :uhoh: :cwm27: :banghead:

Try squeezing the end of the clip directly in front of the wires and steadily rocking as you gently pull the connector (not the wires.)

Mine comes off easily this way and snaps back into place even easier. I have a '99 1.0L Metro 3 cylinder 5 speed with air conditioner.

My coolant sensor is removed with a 7/8" open end wrench. Be sure your new part comes with a new O ring to seal the sensor port or a coolant leak may develop. I paid $42.00 for a new sensor but I had to order it...two days.
