CV Driveshaft & CV Shaft Part of Safety?cj1stdan 01-28-2005, 01:38 PM I just purchased a 95 PFXE which was certified and eTested yesterday. I took it in for an oil change today and they indicated the CV Axle Shaft needs replacing. This was apparantly due to the boot being split open? Should have this been caught and repaired by the Garage who did the safety? The estimate from Active Green and Ross was 4.2 hours labour at $89.00, 1 CV Shafft $238 and 1 CV Driveshaft $238. I have called the garage who issued the safety and they will be looking at it on Monday. Any advice would be appreciate. Thanks, CJ lewisnc100 01-28-2005, 01:50 PM Boots would be one of the easiest things to inspect, unless they are going to claim that you tore it since yesterday. Just curious why they aren't just replacing the torn boot, are there other symptoms of CV failure? cj1stdan 01-28-2005, 02:04 PM Boots would be one of the easiest things to inspect, unless they are going to claim that you tore it since yesterday. Just curious why they aren't just replacing the torn boot, are there other symptoms of CV failure? They have not commited to fix anything yet as the mechanic who issued the safety will not be looking at it until Monday. What type of symptoms should I be looking for. I did notice some noise when I first drove the vehicle this morning but it seemed to go away after I drove it for awhile. What type of symptoms should I be looking for? Thanks, CJ lewisnc100 01-28-2005, 03:34 PM Popping or clicking noise, especially when turning. They're probably recommending changing everything out because once that boot is torn you really don't know what has gotten in there since. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
