Help!!! I got a check engine light, ran an OBDII and got 'system too lean'. After some research I learned that 99% of the time this is from a bad mass air flow sensor. So I cleaned my MAF. To do this, I first removed the entire cruise control module by unbolting the bracket and just setting it a few inches to the side. I took of the MAF and cleaned it. I then put the MAF back on and rebolted on the cruise control module. So now my 'lean' problem is a thing of the past. BUT! Now my speedometer 'lags' a tiny bit and the speed is a consistant 10mph to high no matter what speed I am at, except at standtill where it reads the proper 0. What on earth did I do??? Help!

Check all your harness connections near where you were doing your work some of the connectors Toyota used have a propensity to "weaken" the spring tension on the arched connector "flattens" so by moving the connector it may have disrupted the connection. OR broken wire in the harness get out your schematics and splice locators and trace back the speedo circuit concentrate on the circuits where your work was done.
Good luck

I had good luck cleaning my 4Runner MAF meter and the harness connector with NAPA QD Electronic Cleaner.

When I cleaned the MAF meter in my 4Runner, I didn't touch the cruise control. I didn't need to.

I removed the entire air cleaner housing from the vehicle and cleaned everything while out of the vehicle (except the harness connector, which stayed attached to the harness, of course). To clean it, I just sprayed the hell out of it, cleaning every surface and inside every tube I saw.
