97 Cherokee starts then wont startsambakervb 01-27-2005, 01:23 PM I am trying to fix a 97 Cherokee that will start okay in the morning, then an hour later it will not even turn over, doesn't chatter or click, lights burn brightly. The starter seems to work okay when it will start. Is there anything weird in the ignition circuit that would cause this like a ballast resistor the old Chryslers have? Any help or insight into this problem will be appreciated. Thanks. Dale Try wiggling the shifter on trans. jeepman600@sbcglobal.net I was going over my daughter's Cherokee prior to state inspection and found the back up lights didn't work either. Bought a Haynes manual and found the back up lights come from the neutral safety switch and the switch is required for starting. Long story short, after an hour lying on the asphalt, it was the neutral safety switch. Thanks for the reply. Take it easy. Sam vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
