Utah weather has been great these past few weeks, no snow, little fog, and not too cold out either HA HA! :lol2: .

Anyway, dumb ol' me blew out a gasket in between my manifold and y pipe. Now the Civ sounds like a freakin Beatle from 1970 something :disappoin . The damn little sputting from the header is louder than my exhaust. I hate it, not to mentiont the fumes coming into the car through the vents. By the time I get to work I'm light headed, nautious, and I smell like a motor. Alright I'll quit my bitching and get on with the story :loser: .

I just had finished work and I was going through Provo quietly as possible. I had been pushing the peddle no more than 15% (I can tell thanks to the VAFC). Otherwise the noise becomes louder the more I push the gas. So I'm slowly pacing down the road. When some dude in an old Acura Legend comes rollin up on me. We were at a light, and he was gassin forward like he really wanted to go. But I didn't hence the noise that my car makes. So I pussed out.

I finally was coming to my turn which brings me to Springville, which the dude in the Legend, got in front of me at the light. His car looked pretty good. Some nice rims, tint, and the back end was raised up a bit compared to the front. All in all, his car looked good. But yet, he still continued to gas forward even while he was ahead of me. So I said, "what the hell?" :iceslolan . The left turn light came on and he punched it around the corner with me following, I gassed it and followed closely through 1st and 2nd.

He slowed down a bit. So I decided to pull out into the left lane and catch up to his side. As soon as I had done so, he took off. O....K? We were coming up to the next turn and I figured I'd try to pull out as soon as we turned. Right then he turned and I made the effort. I punched it, signalled to go around, and made it to his side. He rolls down his window and I figured he wanted me to come to his side. Next thing I know, he holds out his hand and waves "Bye, Bye". Oh no you don't! I floored it again, he floored it, and before I know it, he just walked away. Damn, that just seemed like a cake walk for him. So I slowed down, amazed, and watched him turn at some apartment complexes. Well then, I got schooled, and I went home with my tail between my legs. Nonetheless it was a good kill on his part.

I can't go on about this anymore, I'm going lie down :crying: . Late...*sniff*

sounds like he thought u were a ricer civic....probably that exhaust noise you had going on

might i suggest a nice edelbrock turbo kit to put them in their places?? i hear 170whp, which is just as much as my car to the ground, off that 1.6 liter

Nah, can't yet, too many miles on the Civ. I figured when this motor dies out, then I'll go Turbo, or just buy a new car with a turbo package. Either way, I'm just doing a few bolt ons. Just enough to surprise a few muscle heads around the area. That's all I really need. Late...

i always love waving to people as i pass them. I dont know why, but its just kidna fun, like a cocky arrogance or something. Mostly because the cars i race think they will stomp on my cavy, and the look on their faces as i drive past them waving. . .priceless.

Anways good death, how many miles are on the civ?

That gasket problem doesn't sound like it would be that hard to fix. Just remove the header which is probably held on by a couple of bolts, and replace the gasket.

In his case it's more like, you win some, you lose a lot more :)

^Your a funny guy TypeS :grinno: Yeah, I don't mind losing, cause when you come back and whoop on the guy later it's kinda funny to see the look on their face.

how many miles are on the civ?

150K and then some. There's about another 80K miles left on the motor if I take care of it, but I don't think I can do that. Just figured I'd save up after I'm done with those last few mods, and then drop in a B18C1.

Yeah, I just ordered a new one, it should be in by the end of this week. So I'll just install when it comes in. Late...

In my opinion, the B18C1 is the ONLY honda motor to go with if you're trying to go fast. Unless of course you feel like going the whole B20 vtec route...but a B18C1 with a turbo. That's a hell of a good mix.

K20 + Turbo

You could always tyr to force the motor from a NSX in there....I'm sure with enough fabrication, it could work? *insert appropraite smiley here*

Isn't the NSX rear wheel drive? I'm not a fan of the K20 just because it's so much more expensive. For the money you pay for a K20A swap, you could pay for a B18C1/turbo'd and installed. Unless they've gone down alot in price since I was last looking at them.

b16 would be the cheapest route and you wouldn't really lose out on much power plus...there is a massive aftermarket for bseries motors so really all in all it won't make all too much of a difference in what you choose just the amount of mods you do.

I'll go with the m50, or perhaps the s52. Unless of course you aren't a fan of OBD-II, then you'll have to stick with the s50.

oh, we're talking about honduhs... well, I think I'd upgrade to a hamster on a wheel if I were driving a honduh :p

I'd go with the S50, turbo it....Can you imagine Dados motor in a civic?

BMW = High compression engines + turbo = unreliable. It's possible, but not worth the money compared to other options.

I would stick with a B16, B18, K20 or maybe an H22. I don't even think an I6 would fit without a lot of modding. The H22 barely fits in a civic as it is.

AA turbo isn't that much more than other turbos out there, and you can get an E36 ///M3 for about 15k. 15k+8,700 for the stage one. Or you could really nut up with the cash, get the used ///M3 for 15, and drop 10k into the stage 2. 25k for a low 11, high ten car that can still handle. I think I'd take that over a turboed Civic any day.

I'd say a Civic Hatchback with a Turbocharged B18C1 can get you around there for about a 1/4 of the cost. Drop in about another 2 grand on suspension mods and Bam! that's good enough for me. If your going for looks, power and grace then get a bimmer. But if you just want something to play around with and mess with other cars for a quarter the cost, then I'd say go with the swapped/turboed Civic. Late...

Or you could just get the TL, CL or RL V6 which produce 260, 270 and 300 hp compared to the 290 for the NSX. There isn't much difference, except that it would probably cost a lot more to get the NSX engine.

If you get the J32, you can get a custom turbo from a guy for around 6-7K that makes 420 whp at just 5.5 psi and run 11s at over 120 mph trap speeds with stock internals. That's on a 3600 lbs car mind you, it would be a beast in a civic.

Plus the CL-S with the HLSD beat a 330ci on the skidpad and was very close to it in the slalom runs, so if you're worried about handling, you got that too.

But the only benefit you'd have from getting a bigger engine is the torque so I'd just stick with one of the civic engines or the B18 since they're a lot cheaper.
