91 Dodge Shifting In Morningredneck_cadillac01 01-26-2005, 01:33 PM My 91 Ram 4x4 Shifts Fine Like There Is No Problem. The Only Thing That Is Bothering Me Is In The Morning. First Thing In The Morning, It Stays In One Gear For To Long. However, Once I Shift All The Way Thru The Gears, It Stops Doing It Untill The Next Morning. I Replaced The Filter And Fluid About A Month Ago So Im Not Worried About That. But What Could Be The Problem? BleedDodge 01-26-2005, 11:54 PM Where do you live? I know it's cold where I live, and transmissions will hold gears for longer when it's deadly cold outside... mxracer111 01-26-2005, 11:56 PM where are you located, i know here in ny for example its gonna be 25 below with wind chill. just woundering if the cold is making the fluid thick and not allowing the clutch to work till it warms up redneck_cadillac01 01-27-2005, 07:53 AM Yeah, I live in Maryland and it has been pretty cold here. So im sure that is what it is. Still, i hate hearing the truck rev that loud and long in any given gear, is there anything I can do to help with this problem? fredjacksonsan 01-27-2005, 09:48 AM 1991, so you've got the 727 or 904, right? Mine always did the same when it was cold, never hurt it. Get up to about 10-15 mph (or a little higher) and let off the gas and let it shift. If it won't shift, add a few mph and try again. Eventually you'll get the speed that will let it go into the next gear; you can do the same for the 2-3 shift also. If you stay on the gas, it WILL be in the lower gear quite a bit longer than usual until it warms up. 2000mudder 01-27-2005, 11:30 PM 91 has a 999 trans. its a comb of the 727 & 909 with a od. have the same trk and mine dose the same thing here in ohio. -5 degr last week and i never got heat after 1 hour fredjacksonsan 01-28-2005, 08:42 AM Whups, thanks 2000 for straightening me out on the trans; I forgot about the bolt-on OD unit; they start in '91? redneck_cadillac01 01-28-2005, 09:18 AM Thanks Everyone For All The Info. Guess I'll Just Have To Wait 'till It Warms Up A Bit. No Big Deal, Just Wondering If It Was A Problem I Should Jump On Top Of Ya Know? Thanks Agian. troy1 01-28-2005, 10:59 PM dodge has problem with a over cut seal groove when the seals get old and hard they shrink which causes a delyed shift. I think it is 2nd to 3rd shift. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
