Im going to stick with what the Manual says for my truck 5W20.
But I was wondering if using a synthetic/dyno blend would be a good idea?
I know the Fords come with it from the factory.
We had a 04 Ford F-150 and that is what Ford used ( Motorcraft 5W20 Synth/dino blend).

If I did decide to use Motorcraft 5W20 synth/dino blend should I still wait for approx 10,000 miles to switch over to itl because of the synthetic oil in it?.
Im at 1500 miles now.

I never understood why some cars and trucks come with synthetic or synthetic blend from the factory and some say you have to wait for anywhere from 1000 to 10000 miles before you switch. Is there something different about the valve guides and seals in the ford 5.4 motor and others that tolerates synthetic right away?

Out here at the local Dodge dealership they want over $5.00 a quart for mopar 5W20 oil and thats straight dino. Across the street Ford is asking $2.50 a quart for Motorcraft 5W20 synthetic blend.

What 5W20 is every one else using? Whats a real good quality oil, with out going full synthetic?

Thanx

All blends should be pretty good as long as they carry the correct SAE rating.

Don't know about break in times, synthetic from the factory, but I'd be the engineers that designed the engines do. It could be the ring material that they used, or any number of factors.
