stainless gauge cluster coversSeneb 03-13-2002, 05:08 PM would anybody be interested in a gauge cluster cover made of stainless steel? i am working on getting a quote for a laser cut batch, and want to know what the level of interest is. so far i only have a pattern for a 2001 p11 manual, which might be the same for the 1999, and the 2000, but i think the 2002 is a bit different. if i can get my hands on the different versions (manual and 2002), i can get them designed as well. i might even be willing to design one for a p10. let me know... P11GT 03-13-2002, 09:34 PM ive seen them for some hondas, and they look smart especially if youve already kitted the dash out, but why stainless steel?? why not aluminium? surely thats gotta be cheaper? Seneb 03-13-2002, 09:43 PM i thought about aluminum, but i would have to get them clear anodized so they would not tarnish. with stainless, you don't have to worry. but, if i do aluminum, i can do colors. any input anybody???? P11GT 03-13-2002, 09:47 PM ill be interested in one. if you went for aqlu, then you could just laquer it, its just that the duller colour of alu suits my dash. TRBOBRK 03-13-2002, 09:59 PM I would be interested in brushed aluminum for P10 g20jojit 03-13-2002, 11:43 PM I'm very much interested if it is for p10. dre 03-13-2002, 11:48 PM how much ?...ballpark. Also, yes, the 2002 cluster is different. the two little circles sit lower than my 01. killick 03-14-2002, 11:47 AM Originally posted by Seneb i thought about aluminum, but i would have to get them clear anodized so they would not tarnish. with stainless, you don't have to worry. This guy Delorean had a cool idea some years ago to build a car with a stainless body. Wouldn't need paint 'cause it's stainless and don't tarnish. Guess what? Last models off the assembly line were painted. Customers got pi$$ed because the body would become covered with blue tarnish spots from fingerprints and constantly have to be polished off. If you're gonna do stainless, have it lacquered (sp?) or somethin' to protect it. Cheers. p.s. If you still think stainless won't tarnish, take a look at the cutlery in your kitchen drawer and see how much of it is still truly shiny. Seneb 03-14-2002, 12:08 PM how often do you put your fingers on your gauges?? oh, wait, you can't touch it since it is behind clear plastic!!!! G20TurboVisionCrew 03-14-2002, 12:40 PM i'd be interseted if it was brushed aluminum....Still would want to see a picture before i totally say yes... -i'm a candidate- killick 03-14-2002, 01:57 PM Originally posted by Seneb how often do you put your fingers on your gauges?? oh, wait, you can't touch it since it is behind clear plastic!!!!
