ok about a month ago i met a girl and that night ended up goin to her place since. EARLY that morning her mom or stepmom backed into the front of my car. pushed in the hood just enough to keep it from opening. ive made attempts to talk to her about gettin it fixed, but to no avail. i left a message that if i dont hear from here in the next 16 hours ill show up at her place with a cop.

whut other things should i do to get it fixed. i had the car for only 4 days from the body shop before this happened. im way over on a oil change (take my motorcycle to work half the time). should i just call a police station and talk to a cop to show up at the house with me?

If it's been a couple of days, a cop might not be interested. Best time to call a cop is before you've moved the car, as soon as you've noticed the damage. Can you actually prove she caused the damage--did you or a witness see the damage occur. If so, she can be compelled to pay for the damage. Get estimates.

If you pry the hood open, you'll probably have to tie it down to keep it closed on the highway until you get it fixed. Tie it down good. It's no fun having a hood fly open at 70 mph in the passing lane. (that happened to me in a '69 Volvo and I can verify that it's no fun :grinno: )

If the accident happened on private property, the police don't want any part of it. They will just tell you to swap insurance information. It will be between you, the other party and theinsurance companies.

The only reason the police might handle it is if she left the scene and didn't tell you she hit your car... then it would be hit and run. Being that it's a old accident, it most likely would be handled over the phone.

(I work at a police department)
