15X8 on a stock cherokeecmacartney 01-25-2005, 10:47 PM will a 15X8 inch wheel fit on a stock cherokee without any other mods? the stock wheels are 15X7. thanks! canebrake 01-26-2005, 01:59 PM Assuming there's no offset (spokes farther in or out in relation to rim), no problem with 15x8 wheels. They'll allow stock tires (225x75R15 on my XJ) to widen and fill the wheelwells a little more. Enjoy! cmacartney 01-26-2005, 02:13 PM Thanks! I dunno about offset. It looks like they could have some. But they are off a jeep 05 wrangler. both jeeps, so i hope it will work. thanks! rustedwon 01-26-2005, 09:19 PM If I remember right they might need a 4 1/2 inch backspacing(offset).Im not sure what the stock backspacing is on these vehicles but my buddy had to go with a 4 1/2 backspacing when he bought 15x8 rims and 29x8.5 15 tires. cmacartney 01-30-2005, 01:00 PM The wheels I'm looking at are off a '05 wrangler. They have 30X9.5 R15's on them. So thats why I think they sould fit, but I dont wanna spent the $$$ and shipping time to just find that they wont fit on my car!!! They are a little more concave then the alloys that came stock on my model year. I hope they fit! Thanks! PIC of the new wheels im looking at... http://www.oemrims.com/EBAY/9024SWNT4.JPG marco242polo 07-06-2007, 09:55 AM Hey all, I found this old thread and am wondering if this question was ever answered... I found a good deal on a set of Gambler 15x8 wheels with Wilderness A/T 30x9.5x15 tires. My 98 Cherokee has a 2" lift. I'm checking with the seller on the 4.5 inch offset question. THX for any feedback. scoobytuff 07-07-2007, 10:35 AM They will be fine. If you notice any rubbing at all it would only be at full steering wheel lock. I seriously doubt there will be any problems. It'll definately look better with the new wheels! citizen@large 07-07-2007, 11:22 AM x2 ^.^ trying for 4.5" offset will help w/ larger tires too... Ray H 07-07-2007, 11:37 AM The backspacing on stock TJ 15X8 Gambler or Canyon wheels is 5.5". They will work fine on an XJ as will the 30" tires. I ran this combo for years on my XJ. It looks and works good. Just for reference: Stock Jeep 15X7 wheels have 5.25" BS. Jeep 15X8 wheels have 5.5" BS, except Rubicon wheels (Moabs) which have 5" BS. marco242polo 07-08-2007, 12:36 PM THX, Guys. I have them on already and the rig lookd great!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
