my trip home (lots of pictures!)DeleriousZ 01-25-2005, 07:54 PM alright, well normally moving home isn't really that big of a deal.. at least not threadworthy.. but i think this time deserves its story told... ok, so i wake up sunday morning at around 7:30 after partying till 2ish the night before... go outside and find my car like this... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609snow.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609window_ice.JPG so i brush off all the snow and start the car up... come back out like 10 min later and start chipping off all the ice from the freezing rain we had before it snowed... it turned out there was about a 1/4" thick layer of ice on the rear winshield... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609ice-med.JPG after i get everything packed up and ready to go... i start on what i thought was going to be a nice 9 hour drive home.. roads weren't too bad... had a bit of snow on em here and there.. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609startroads-med.JPG as i went along... things were prettymuch the same until i hit some dense fog... which came and went for a few hours http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609fog-med.JPG the voltage meter was finally reading somewhere around 14.4, compared to the 12.7-14 it's been reading for the last 3 months... maybe the long run time fully charged the battery or something.. i dunno... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609voltmeter-med.JPG anyway... so after about.. hmm.. about 8 and a few hours of driving, i arrive at golden where i stop for a few snacks and such.. and continue on... about a km to where there was a nice big roadblock setup across the highway... it's CLOSED!!! great... now i'm stuck out in the middle of buttf'k nowhere... i go back to a gas station and see if i can find any way around the highway, and it turns out there is... going south to just above the us/canada border then headding west.. anyway, i decide that i really didn't want to stick around so off i went... going through one of the passes i experienced something pretty cool/weird... on the way down i just set it in 4th around 2500-3000rpm and coasted down the hill using the engine to keep me at a good speed... after about 5-10 minutes my temp guage started to drop... and bottomed out around here... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609temp_guage-med.JPG it kicked right back up as soon as the ground leveled out and i had to give it some gas.. so... after about 1300 kilometers and 17 hours of drive time, i FINALLY arrived home... woke up the next morning and snapped this pic of my baby... poor poor thing.. she really needs a wash! http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609aftermath-med.JPG i'm amazed that she ran so strongly the whole way home.. with that many kilometers on it and all the weight in the back of her, she really pulled through with all the finesse and grace that z's are made of.. amazing what these cars can do i've always wanted to figure out if my car was faster than my last one.. and i sorta figured it out last night when i came across a nice red 3rd gen teg... looked like it had exhaust and that's all i could tell, but rolling in 2nd at about 2500rpm we gunned it and i pulled away handily through 3rd and then shut-er down... chalk up win #1 for me! oh and if anyone's looking for some good trance.. might wanna check out "Astral Projection" this stuff owns! k3smostwanted 01-25-2005, 08:09 PM nice story...its funny that you are getting snow and it warmed up here. it was 60 degrees here today...we are having areally wierd weather. it will be ice cold for a few days and then it will warm up to 60 degrees for a couple days. started up the 90' today and gave her a good run... anyways, nice trip!!! probehtr300 01-25-2005, 08:40 PM word today after about a week or two of single digit weather we had a 50 degree day, started up the Z and went out for a bit and then realized today was the day for the tailight coversion. it was sooo nice driving that Z after a few weeks or a sable....damn sable freakonaleash1187 01-25-2005, 08:56 PM my car had 2" of ice one it a few weeks ago. made me so sad. glad to hear you had a great trip, can't wait to take my first trip in my z. -Jared Hodo 01-26-2005, 01:39 PM Del-Z man thats why I left the great white north.... ICE. As for the cold my Z32 is a daily driver, I put 68 miles a day on my car back and forth to work, I can tell you no problems and they are a better on the highway than on back roads. Also Astral isnt my thing, I perfer Paul Van Dyke and Tiesto.... some Acosta, alot of Irene, and a touch of Corestien.(Spelled wrong I am sure) Also I love Svenson and Gielen, they are just awesome!! Twisted is my favorite track by them but I love all their stuff. 1viadrft 01-26-2005, 05:38 PM Wash your damn car, yatch! Twisted is my favorite track by them but I love all their stuff. It's Ferry Corsten. Get yourself some Expanded Galaxy if you can find any. Not very well known but they've made some of the best trance I've ever heard. Anyway, you're forgetting Oakenfold (before he turned all poppy), Mario Piu, Blank and Jones, BT, Armin van Buuren, ATB (sometimes), Rank 1, Signum. Ok, so I looked through my playlist. Anyway, back on topic. I've only ever seen snow twice in my life, and both times I've been above 2km above sea level. :) -Mike Hodo 01-26-2005, 07:28 PM I doubt i will find any Expanded Galaxy down here in North Carolina.... people here are all into the hip-hop and pop scene. I lost all interest in Oakenfold because of his pop-phase. He became like Keoki did in the mid 90s, full of himself. I was just naming DJs I like off the top of my head, I also like Delerium, DJ Fuzion, Faithless, ATB, Piccoto, PvD, AvB, DJ Venom, DJ Irene, sometimes Diesleboy, DJ Bam-Bam, Tall Paul, Tomcraft, and many many many many more, I dont even want to list all of them, I wouldnt have space or time to.... that and I know I would forget a few. BTW you might want to try and check out this websight www.Tranceaddict.com Its all for the trance fan. DeleriousZ 01-26-2005, 08:03 PM Wash your damn car, yatch! done and done... it's amazing... there was actually an engine under all that dirt and grime... just did a quick clean on it, and it's amazing how much better it looks! picture quality is kinda weird cause it was really foggy out... flash must have lit it up somehow... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/154609engineclean.JPG k3smostwanted 01-26-2005, 08:54 PM nice...i cant even tell my cover is red. covered in dirt and sand. if i cleaned my car i think i could make a sandbox at the local park... DeleriousZ 01-27-2005, 04:16 AM lol that's the same way mine was... except tonight when i went to go play some halo 2 at my buddies place... i started her up fine... pulled outta the driveway and started driving.. only the accelleration felt like there was a wheel coming really loose on the back or something... or perhaps the engine was missing a cylinder or 2... either way it was running hella rough until it started to warm up... then it smoothed out and ran just fine, except for now the exhaust has a bit of white colour to it.. hopefully just some moisture in the system... exhaust didn't smell any different.. either way, it was raining on the way home and i busted out a phatty drift coming around one of the stoplights.... it was actually a drift this time too.. held it for a solid 3 seconds... booya! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
