93 Camry low on water but doesn't get hot!fchanes 01-25-2005, 06:35 PM 93 Camry low on water but doesn't get hot! Runs at normal temperature but consumes water. About a quart a week. No leak or water to be seen anywhere on the engine. No water in the oil. Any thoughts on what's happening? Thanks. rum runner 01-26-2005, 05:10 AM Water can escape the engine thru cracks as steam and not leave wet spots in certain conditions. You can usually smell anti-freeze though after you shut off the engine, the green kind. Not sure about Toyota red. Go back and check hose connections. Look around head gasket and intake manifold. Look on bottom of radiator for anti-freeze drops. Check the water pump. It’s getting out somewhere. Replace radiator cap to begin with, they are cheap. jsinton 01-26-2005, 09:20 AM I have the same thing happening! I lose a small amount of coolant, but I never was able to track it down. Sometimes I can smell it. On a long trip (3000 miles in a week) I have to refill the resevoir a couple of times. GSS123 01-26-2005, 11:41 AM Have your cooling system pressure checked for leaks. If they don't see anything right away most garages will add a marker to the coolant that becomes visable under UV light. Drive the car for a few days and return to garage and let them check with thier light. Also check for dampness on passenger side floor carpet. Your heater core could be leaking. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
