Okay-okay... I said I would stay off the touge... no more drifting... no more mountains... no more hi-speed chase-downs. I lied...

Saturday was so nice out here I decided to wash the ol' Red Head Z32 up and give here a nice and well over-due engine detaling. Cleaned my intake and Armor-All'd my whole interior, dressed my tires. My baby was looking good! Took a shower and got dressed... walked outside again. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL, SUNNY, CALIFORNIA DAY! Lets take a drive in the mountains! Stopped by my mom's house and woke up my lazy brother... "Let's touge, bitch!" He get's dressed and fire's up his NA FC Rx7. He has an HKS intake, Racing Beat header, and APEXi N1 exhaust. About 185+ HP. We head out...

We finally get out there and we are taking it easy, mostly just cruising the canyon. We kinda decided at the last minute we we're not going to take the touge too hard since there was an ample amount of cars out this fine day (probably due to the fact the local mountain roads were washed out and were just recently opened). Cruising along and this greyish-purple EVO 8 shoots by in the opposite direction. He brakes and slows down. So we brake and pull over. This should be fun! He keeps going. We sit there for about 5 minutes or so and he doesn't come back. I notice there are no more cars passing by. Hmmm... I hit my hazards. Pull off into the road and it's on!

We are on the twisty section and I'm hitting the S turn's perfect. Hitting every apex. My bro's FC is not having much of a problem keeping up with me. I'm concetrating on the road ahead to be sure no oncoming traffic is coming. Here comes the left hand sweeper... I can't see what's on the other side. I'm not going to chance it... it would be stupid. I stay in the right lane. Now here comes the long straight. I pick up enough speed and I'm doing 60+mph. Here comes a right turn hair-pin... that's a Speed Limit Sign... it says 20mph. I brake a little bit. Not much.

The hair pin turns right and becomes a small down hill drop into another medium straight which turns into a long left turn. As soon as I exit the apex my Z starts to drift. Cool... let's see if my bro can match this! .............. I'm going too fast. My Z32 is too heavy for this shit. I know that. Is that sand on the road? Mid drift I hit the sand. Bad news. My rear end slips out way too much and I'm losing control of the car. I'm heading for the left lane staright for the hill. Shit. I counter steer... it turns into over steer. Now I'm headed for the other side. Shit. Counter steer again. Shit I'm gonna spin it. Quick glance at the rear veiw and I catch my bro's red FC braking hard... right on top of the sand. Spin... Shit. Right behind me... please don't hit me! My Z is now fish tailing back and forth. I'm making sure not to touch the brakes because that will just aggrivate another loss of control. I'm slowly gaining control. But I'm still headed for the left side of the mountain. Brakes! I'm in the left lane and my driver side fenders in the bushes facing the mountain. My front fascia is actually on the mountain. Cracked up a bit more than it already was. Fuck. My bro spun around completely and actually avoided from hitting me. Shit. Wheeew. Let's get the hell out of here before someone hits us!

Heading further down we are both taking it a bit slower. Do you blame us? There is a mini river going right through the road ahead. So much for washing my car. It's like 6 inches deep. Damn it. Towards the end of our touge we get some nice down hill hair pins. About 10 of 'em in a row. Nice. Of course we threw drifting out the window about 30 minutes ago and grip them all the way down. We finally reach the end of our road. We U turn it and the FC is in front this time.

All is well and we take it pretty easy. We pass the infamous "Z32 Killer" Hairpin... you can see all of our tire marks all around that area. It's fucking funny when you see that and remember back to what happend. Hilarious. Heading home and my bro starts to pick it up a bit. You can totally tell how nimble his little '7 is compared to my hog. He actually loses me on the corners. You can also totally tell my suspension sucks. My rear bounces around alot. I need those KYB's! We are coming up to a short left hander with a suggested speed of 35mph. I start to let off the gas and brake a little. The FC is still flying. Too fast. Too fast! He trys to drift it. Not sure what he did wrong but his rear tire catches the right side of our lane close to the shoulder and he catches sand. He spins out completely a couple of times. I slow down and stop as he spins into a pile of sand/dirt that was pushed over by tractors from the last rain fall. Bangs up his passenger side fender pretty bad. looks like he has a wide body kit on one side. HAHA. I pull beside him to make sure he is alright. He is okay. Dumb-ass. I take lead again. We head down a bit and we see a cop pulled over on the shoulder. He eye's us passing by... doing the speed limit of course. We would have been in trouble if he was any further down.

We finally get home. We stop for lunch at a Mexican restruant. I have a huge Mexican seafood cocktail. My girl is gonna get it tonight. I'm laughing at my bro's fender. It looks hilarious. He's pissed. My car is filthy and and my fascia is looking crappier than ever. Should have waited to wash my car on Sunday... I need a new JDM front fascia for my Zed. She's too heavy... too much of a hog for touge. I need an old Subaru or something if I'm gonna keep this up. :biggrin:

I'm done... when I went out there this past weekend I remembered exactly why I stopped going with my Z. I'm keeping here off the touge! Plus my cracked lower part of my fascia pissed me off! I gotta fix that! I'm thinking of getting a light little car... or maybe a Subaru to tide me over at the touge. Plus it will be good for my Z... since I can park her and have a daily driver for work. 240SX's are way too expensive right now... and unless I can find a decent '91-'93 Coupe for about $1500 (like my first one!) I'm either looking for an old school 240Z-280ZX, Datsun 510, '91 SER (like the one I had!), '91-up Integra, Legacy, Impreza, old 323 GTX, or Celica All-Trac. Something I wouldn't mind beating up... like Jason said.

Yeah.. I was not really into the circle-light Teggy's either. If I had to buy one I would definately do a Type R conversion. To tell you the truth... the Integra is the only Honda I would buy. I always like 'em. I figure if I buy an old Z or 510 in not so great condition it wouldn't be a problem. 510's with SR20's? Try a 510 with a VG30DE! I'm not so sure on an AUDI. I'm not a big fan of German cars... plus I have never really worked on 'em and I know zilch about them! Good rally car's I hear though!

YEAH... STICK WITH A 240z-260Z... Z's tend to start getting heavier right around the 280Z-ZX chassis'... well, for touge anyway. Drifting is another story.

i think.. not sure.. but i think the claim still may be liable for lawsuit... my buddy just got sued by 2 girls he rearended 1 year and 354 days ago... and the suit stands because they got it in a day before the 2 year deadline... anyway, it's probably worth looking into... you might even be able to make a case against them because you were in the car at the time...

Under the circumstances... it may be a bit hard to sue Daimler/Chrysler... since it was probably not a head on collision, the situation in which airbags are designed to deploy... I could be wrong but I thought I heard something similar like that.

Most airbag systems dont deploy unless its a head-on. Or near head-on. Now if the car was equipted with side impact bags and or curtains then yes you could very well have a suit. You also have to look at the type of impact and how hard and what angle it happened at, it may not have been sufficiant to deploy the bags.

running through 3 trees would probably be quite a bit of force... i'd look into it... especially if you hit the trees head on... because i'm pretty sure car's aren't designed to know the difference between a car and a tree..... *car*"oh it's just a tree!! no airbag needed here!"

even the brand new regular WRX (non STI) still runs mid 14's in the 1/4 mile...now thats impressive. what is it a 2.0L turbo for the regular WRX??? if this job oppurtunity ever gets my background check i might look into getting a used one...but then again i have been looking at audi A4's too. :evillol:

Kinda hard to find though... I was even thinking of getting a brand new Impreza RS in about a year or two. But at that price I can get a nice used WRX '02-04 right now. After I'm done with paying the ol' Z32 I just may do that. Park the Z and rip her aaprt and put her back together again... nice and slow. I wanna redo the whole engine and prep it for a 100-shot of nitrous. Port and polish everything... I just may stay NA with her. Then by a WRX for daily driving!

But right now...an old Impreza 2.5RS would do. I can even get involved with SCAA Rally Series with it!

It'd probably get thrown out of court or dismissed due to the fact that the driver of the car was going faster than the posted limit.

You could always say you weren't. But when you start talking about sueing for big money. Chrysler will bring in experts to say that you had to have been going X mph to achieve said velocity to go through X amount of trees.

They'll probably slap you with a environmental impact suit for destroying the local wildlife habitat.
