Slow to catch and startunreal5 01-24-2005, 10:35 AM I have a 1997 Jeep GC Laredo with 90K. When I go to start my Jeep, it gives a hesitation, like it is trying really really hard to start and then will catch and be fine. I don't have to give it any extra gas, it just hesitates until it starts. Then I'll drive it and be fine. Finally the other day, I go to start it and all the lights light up but it just starts clicking and now won't turn over. Any ideas as to what this could be? Anyone experience this either? Thanks -Anthony Cam7 01-27-2005, 06:06 AM First make sure your battery is up to charge a weak battery in winter weather will make it diffucult to start. Try cleaning the batterry connections with a wire brush and a file or sandpaper. Have to have a good connection. If the Battery is good and the connections are clean you have starter issues which you will probally have to replace the starter. Not that bad of a Job. dksob81 01-27-2005, 07:33 AM Does sound like a battery problem, after recharging/cleaning the Battery and cables. and still have the slow start problem try this, turn the key to the ON position for about 5-10 seconds, then turn off and try to start the engine. If it starts right up then the fuel pressure is feeing back into the tank. Prolly a bad Fuel Pressure Regulator. unreal5 01-27-2005, 02:11 PM I appreciate your help, I will do those things and see. It is most likely a battery issue. Thanks again. -Anthony unreal5 01-30-2005, 10:55 PM Great job guys, it was the battery. Finally, everything just died. When I would start up I would get a little bit of power and then nothing. I had a new battery put in and everything works 100%. So, if the car has a bit trouble starting, may not be the starter but probably just the battery is dead. -Anthony dksob81 01-31-2005, 12:25 AM good to hear you got the JEEP runnin' vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
