h22 / b16 sec gen?spawnliban 01-23-2005, 10:57 PM well ive done alot of research and wat not bout those two engines.... Yes i did search this time civicspoon lol... h22 as u may know has more torque more hp than b16 and obviously im thinkin faster is better is ther any reason why i should pic one over the other? and since h22 is heavier anythin that might occur to da front end of the car or anything? ..... thanks for ur time CivicSpoon 01-23-2005, 11:23 PM The h22 isn't that much heavier than the b16a; 35-50lbs. And unless you install the motor incorrectly, there won't be any damage done to your car fron it at all. If you go to the '92-'95 forum, I wrote up a huge thing about the swap (also explains about the weight thing). One reason to pick the b16a over the h22 is price. The h22 is going to cost anywhere from $4,000-6,000 to get it in (depends on what parts you buy and if you do the swap yourself). Also if you plan to do SCCA or other autocross events, then the b16a will have the edge on that. Even though the understeer with the h22 swap isn't that bad, you'll still have less with the b16a. If you're looking for NA, ¼ fast; then the h22 is the way to go. If you're going to use any kind of forced induction in the future, then the b16a will be cheaper (price of motor, swap, and turbo kit together). spawnliban 01-23-2005, 11:25 PM for some reason a friend can get me the h22 a bit cheaper than the b16 i dunno but ima read that right now forum SiGNAL748 01-23-2005, 11:41 PM for some reason a friend can get me the h22 a bit cheaper than the b16 i dunno but ima read that right now forum Yes, the h22 is "initially" cheaper, but the cost after swapping it in will be more than a b16. CivicSpoon 01-23-2005, 11:41 PM yeah you can buy the whole h22a swap for the same price of the b16a complete swap, but there are quite a few other things you need to buy to get the h22a in there. spawnliban 01-23-2005, 11:46 PM ooooohhhh dam after that post fuck the h22 lol ... a bit of a headache if you ask me. but fully understood it. well 95 % of it lol... and one thing i dont get is the OBD-1 OBD-2 .... i kno my 93 integra is OBD-2 i believe. thats about it SiGNAL748 01-24-2005, 01:01 AM your 93 teg = obd1. Anything 96+ = obd2 spawnliban 01-24-2005, 01:05 AM oh ...umm someone told me dat for some reason... anyways thanks but wen doin b16a2 swap ... it has to be converted to OBD-2? CivicSpoon 01-24-2005, 01:06 AM Nope yours is OBD1; '91 or older is OBD0, '92-'95 is OBD1, and '96+ is OBD2 It's just different emmisions controls. Also the ECU plugs are different in shape and wiring (conversion harnesses can help with this). If you get a b16a, you will want to get a '92-'95 engine, it's OBD1. Edited :iceslolan Yes you will have to convert it to OBD2, there are a few ways of doing that. Depends on what engine harness and ECU you use. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
