I have a 97 jetta gls automatic. everything works on the car except when i try to turn it on it wont even crank. I was previously told to check the alarm module and to connect the 5 and 6 red and red and black wires but there is no 6 wire. I've disconnected the ecu the alarm and to nothing. I remember before if you would disconnect the battery and plugged it back in the alarm would go off. It doesnt even do that just one honk and that's it. I have closed the doors and set the alarm and I open the door and the alarm doesnt go off, it still shows as if the alarm is on. Please help..........

Automatic or Manual transmission? First check to see if you get 12V+ to the small red/black wire on the starter solenoid when the key is in the start position (alarm module connected).

it is a manual transmission.

you said it is a manual tranny? well then do try to make sure the clutch is pressed all the way to the floor or you may have issues, ebcause there is a switch that cuts the ignition if the clutch is not fully depressed
