'86 Camaro PROBLEMS!!!Ducttape&bondo 01-21-2005, 10:28 PM I have an 86 camaro with a 2.8 mpfi. It was in rough shape when I got it. No matter what I do, it just gets worse. The engine leaks oil BAD. I know how to fix that. The fan is wired straight to the fuse box, because the sensor went out I suppose. I can fix that, too. My problem is the engine rattles from time to time. The oil light comes on periodically, and the car sounds like there is nuts and bolts rattling around inside it violently. It is so bad that you can feel it in the gas pedal. Usually, a quart of oil fixes it, but not this time. And it is getting hot now, too. Can somebody please help? :crying: tacoma man. 01-21-2005, 11:14 PM buddy best thing i can say for you is to yank that motor out and rebuild it. and while your at it do the tranny. that way you cant screw up. *BUT* if she is as bad as you say. you probally have MAJOR mechanical issues with this motor. and it getting hot like that id say the block could be cracked. it may be cheaper to swap it out for a 305 or a 350. in junk yards 305's are cheap to buy, 350's are more expensive. but good luck with it. DaMoNe6969 01-23-2005, 12:23 AM If this is just somethin you use to boot around and get to work and back, etc. etc. and your not too worried about it, You could pick up a 2.8L block from a wrecker for $100 bucks and drop it in in an afternoon.. even some wreckers will offer a warrantee (usually a month) on engines.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
