93 JGC - Replaced Steering Gearbox

Hi there,

I replaced the steering gearbox on my JGC. I bleed the system and topped up the fluid. The fluid is clear and consistent. No foaming or bubbling.

My problem is when I drive the vehicle the steering feels sloppy. The vehicle wants to wander and the steering is not precise. It seems to me that there is a delayed response from when I turn the steering wheel and when the road wheels actually turn.

Would the above problems be eliminated with a simple wheel alignment or is there some adjustments that needs to be made with the steering gearbox? Im also wondering if it could be a weak power steering pump?

Any thoughts, advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'd recommend going tighter a 1/4 turn at a time

As always thanks for the prompt response JD. You seem to have hit it on the head with that post. I will give it a try this weekend.

Thanks again.
