How much would a jake brake and installtion of one cost on a 04 2500 Cummins with a 6-speed?

sorry that i dont have help, but i thought a jake brake was when the compression of the engine slows the rig down when downshifting, or when letting off the accelerator even, hope sum1 can explain for me thanks.

You can get them but I don't know how much they cost. I've seen trucks that have them, most are modified for pulling big trailers and stuff.

You could try asking your dealer, or even call up Cummins and ask them.

Your not looking for a jake brake those are only on what I work on simis. what you are looking for is an exhast brake. You can pick one up from someplace like banks and put it on your self there not hard and everything come with it

Same thing. Jake brake is just slang for exhaust brake. "Jacob's engine retarder" is even more technical.

They make an excellent, trouble free unit, I have installed approximately 50 of them, and had two units fail. That, in the industry, is a very good ratio.

A "Jake Brake" is a retarding device that uses oil pressure to open the exhaust valves immediately before the fuel is injected, using the compression of intake air, to slow the vehicle down.

Jacobs also makes a unit that they like to call the "Jacobs E-Brake" which is an exhaust brake, very similar to the banks, BD, and PacBrake. The only real difference I have noticed, is the addition of a release spring within the vacuum canister.
