My ford taurus 95 something is wrong with the thermastat. Could someone tell me where to find it and how to check it? Dunno about that perticular make, but it should inbetween your intake manifold and upper hose from the radiator. As least most applications are. Check how many degrees the thermostat is and boil it at that temperature in an old pan. If it opens, it's good. Pete Willyum 01-20-2005, 04:26 PM How do you know that something is wrong with the thermostat? yotermanic 01-20-2005, 11:22 PM If the vehicle overheats or overcools, replace it. If that doesn't fix it, replace the water pump, if that doesn't fix it, replace the car! Psychopete 01-21-2005, 08:05 AM How do you know that something is wrong with the thermostat? I told you. Boil it in an old pan of water, if it doesn't open at the right temperature, then it's bad. There are more causes to overheating than just the water pump and the thermostat. Pete KimMG 01-21-2005, 04:09 PM The proper way to check a thermostat is to put into a pan of water and heat it on the stove. Using a candy thermometer, measure the temperature of the water when the thermostat opens. If the water has reached boiling point (212 degrees) without opening, then it is bad. If the thermostat opens at the temperature it is rated for then, it is okay. Why do you think the thermostat is bad? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
