I found a engine for my 240 it's out of a 97 the engine is a KA24DE however the computer at the junkyard I located the engine at says the engine won't fit. I think they do but I reall need to know for sure. The price is VERY GOOD 1,657 miles on the engine and they will sell it to me for $600 with a $100 core and 30 warrenty. Someone please let me know why their computer would say it is different if it is. I have a 1995 240sx.

So the wire harnesses are the same just different ECU? That means if I got the ECU from the 97 also then I would be ok? Or what else do I need?

OBD-II is a whole new way of checking for engine problems, I'm pretty sure it's integrated into the whole harness.

If you go to like http://www.parts.com and look through there your using the same software style the stealership uses. It shows the engine from 95-98 is the same I'm guessing it's a matter of sensors computer and harness. Cause theirs doesn't come with electrical. If this is the case then I should be able to switch all that shit from mine to this one and should be fine. Would most of you assume this? Also I"m going to run up the road cause the place is only like 30 min from here and take a shitload of digital pics so when I pull my engine sat I can compair them before I even buy. If anyone has anymore info or thoughs please contribute.

I don't know with Nissan, but with Honda you need a jumper to use an OBD2 computer in an OBD1 car. I am not aware of any companies doing this for Nissan's. They do it for Honda so you can put Type-R motors in eg Civic's. It's such a common swap that a couple aftermarket companies started making the jumpers for it.

Here is the answer I was looking for, after enough research I got to make a chart for anyone else who was wondering what makes the two engines different. And the answer to my question is yes you can do an engine swap from a 97 to a 95 I will be doing it over the next two weekends and I don't believe you even need to do anything you'll just end up w/ some sensors on your new engine that you just don't plug into anything.
