93 4cly Camary Tensioner Spring?

Changed out T.B., Tensioner and Pulley on my 93 Camary. Went to Toyota and bought a new Tensioner Spring. Upon inspection I noticed that the new Tensioner spring I bought from Toyota was different then the original. The Toyota Parts department was not able to explain. I finally got ahold of the Service Manager who said there was a T.S.B, (Toyota Service Bulliten), on this part but he did not know why. All he could add was that under warranty this item would have been changed.

I tested the tension between the two springs and the original spring had more tension so I used that.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks,
Rick

Why not call Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331 and ask them. Thyye have some internal technical resources they can call upon. Let the rep you speak with know your local dealer wasn't able to explain the difference for you.

I did call Toyota. They said the TSB is EG001-99 and that there was an improvement in the spring. They could not explain any more detail or let me speak with a Technical Person.

Thanks

Use the "improved" spring. More is not always better.
