quick tranny questionmagnnoo 01-19-2005, 07:19 PM 1990 300zx non turbo trans shifts weird and no 4th or 5th gear is there is a fith...oll...cant get outa 3rd kinda slow to engage into drive from a dead stop or from park and from 1st to 2nd gear the engine like...um...well i guess the tranny take to long to shift...and it doesnt shift from 3rd to foth at all... the tranny was rebuilt 6months ago... talked to a mechanic , he said the bands in the trany might need adjustiing? any ideas befor i take it in... freakonaleash1187 01-19-2005, 07:37 PM is it automatic or manual? if it is an automatic, it is only a 3-speed with overdrive (if i remember right). k3smostwanted 01-19-2005, 08:11 PM automatic is 4-speed with OD... i would drop the trans. oil pan and replace the filter and put new trans. fluid in it. sounds dirty...make sure the fluid is where it should be. i hope you do not need a rebuild...BIG MONEY!!! but if you do need a rebuild i have a 90' auto trans. that was just rebuilt less than 11,000 miles ago. i will give it to you for a really good price compared to getting yours rebuilt or buying one from a wrecking yard. my wrecking yards wanted anywhere from $1200-$1500 to get me one, the cheapest one was $1200 and it had 75k miles, then my rebuild cost just under $2000, just for reference sake... i wish you the best of luck.... BTW: give me a PM if your interested in my transmission!!! the only reason im getting rid of it is because i have decided to do a full drivetrain swap... magnnoo 01-20-2005, 06:02 AM yeah i hope i dont need a rebuild either... the rebuild was 1100 bucks but the thing is it was rebuilt 6 monthes ago in july 2004 and i bought it at the end of december of 2004 GRRRRRR... mabey more trouble than its worth... im glas i have 2 other running cars to drive... this 300z is kinda a hobbie car... DeleriousZ 01-20-2005, 02:14 PM is there some sorta warranty on the transmission? if it breaks again and it's the same thing... i'd take it back to em and slap em in the face with it... but if the tranny's too heavy to do that with... i suggest a nice soggy trout k3smostwanted 01-20-2005, 04:31 PM hm...i really hope you do not need a rebuild but usually when it doesnt switch into the next gear, it means the gear has grinded itself out. good luck!!! i can save you money if you need a rebuild!!! :naughty: 1viadrft 01-20-2005, 06:03 PM ^ You lil' whore... k3smostwanted 01-20-2005, 06:47 PM hey im helping the guy out. im just telling him, if he needs a new trans or a rebuild i can save him money!! boost envy is getting the best of you jorge!!! :D 1viadrft 01-20-2005, 07:03 PM Chaddup... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
