I have about 1,200 miles on it so far and have yet to get 20mpg. This last tank was 19.98 mpg and it is the best so far and that is with about 80% freeway driving HiRez_L 03-28-2005, 04:24 PM It's interesting how varied our mileages are, some of us routinely get 20MPG or better, some of us never do . . . makes you wonder how tight the quality control is on the engines. Matimus 03-28-2005, 06:49 PM HiRez L, Interesting comment on QC. However, I think the real answer is engine displacement and options, and the ability to accurately figure gas mileage. Or the odometers lie and chalk up lots of miles! BTW, you can't go by the computer mpg in these vans as my T&C overestimates the mpg by .5 mpg minimum. HiRez_L 03-28-2005, 10:38 PM None of mine are new enough to have a computer that figures the mileage for me . . . I have to do it the old fashioned way, fill up every time and divide the number of miles traveled by the number of gallons pumped . . . As I am sure you all know a new van will suck gas till she is run in ... However all of you with older girls with 100 or more thousand miles on should be getting good mileage ... if not you should be asking yourself when last did I replace the catylitic converter and the Oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor (when faulty) will screw with your mixture and the catylitic converter when getting old (clogs up) will start restricting the exhaust flow out of the cylinders causing higher temperature around the exhaust valves causing them to burn. I just replaced my Cat, found a regular fit one at Autozone for under $80 where it was $175 everywhere else. Good luck .. you all have good taste in cars. dno36 03-31-2005, 09:36 PM Wonder how well the Dodge Caravan does on mileage compared to other makes. Tell us what size engine and year you have and what kind of mileage your getting. We have at least 2 on the road at all times, totalling about 95K/yr. Maintainence and efficiency are very important. Synthetic lubricants all around, except if we have a leaker. Here is what I have had saved. 87 3.0 GCV 3spd - 20.6 all around 24 highway. 1st off the line. 265K 89 3.3 GCV 4spd - 19 all around 24 highway. 91 3.3 GV 4 spd - 19.6 all around 24.5 highway. 435K miles to DOA trans 91 3.3 std V 4 spd - 19.6 all around 24.2 highway 92 3.3 GV 4 spd - 20.1 all around 25.2 highway 94 3.0 GV 4 spd - 19.8 all around 25 highway '96 3.0 std 3 spd - 21.2 all around 25.5 highway '97 3.3 GCV 4 spd - 20.3 all around 25.2 highway We live in a rural/ suburban area 60 miles from Chicago, and use the vans for everything, and I mean everything. (o: DNO. jgionet 08-23-2005, 02:13 PM I find I get awful mileage on my van... howeverI suspect my gas tank is buckled a little since I can only put it 55L of fuel when the owners manual says I have a 75L tank. On a full tank I can only get roughly 450KM'sum. I would think it would be better than that. I drive it %50 highway/%50 city/town driving. I've replaced the plugs, air filter and change my oil when I have too and put some high-end fuel cleaner in the tank once in a while. I have a 96 Caravan 3.3L. Overhaul it runs well.. just don't think I'm getting good KM's with it. I'm baffled. -JG vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
