My 88 accord 5 spd starts and runs fine then when she warms up I get a loss of power and detonation. any ideas?

second question, same car.. today my car started popping itself out of 5th gear on the freeway. I can put it back in and after a few minutes it will pop right out again...

This will cover your 2nd problem with it popping out of gear...this thread is about an integra with a swap, but regardless, it covers pretty much every possible explanation of a gear popping out.

Try all the things they suggest in there, and see if that helps you diagnose your problem any better...if you still don't know which it is, post the results of your troubleshooting(ie, can you hold it in gear forcefully, does it feel like it is about to blow when you try, do you get grinding, etc...)

your first question, when was the last time youchanged your spark plugs? if its a injected engine buy a injector cleaner and poor it in the gas tank, if its a carburated engine then buy a carb cleaner and clean the carb.

Sigh! russiankid, this is a REALLY old thread. PLEASE don't crash arounbd in the forum, gleefully looking for something to answer. If Mark Rudy hasn't fixed his problem after 10 months, I doubt he's still looking here for answers.
