Would any of you, if given the amount, actually spend it on a Mclaren instead of buying, say a house or something?

Already have a house, so...yes.

If you're going to buy an F1 it's because you have tons of excess cash to throw around. The cost of the F1 might end up equalling your house (mortgage + property taxes + utility bills) and the house is FAR more useful.

If you are in the position where you're choosing between a F1 and a house, you're going to buy the house. You only buy an F1 when you have excess cash to burn.

I would not choose a larger house over a mclaren. If i already had a house that i was happy with, i would definatley get a mclaren. Someone on another forum was talking about a mclaren owner who had a small apartment and kept his car uncovered in an unprotected underground garage. He just had a mclaren higher on his prorities. It would be higher on my list too.

Curious to know what you call "excess cash" ?

I've difficulties to imagine the minimum fortune needed to own a Mclaren.

I'm sure that if I won 2.000.000 at a lottery, I'll never buy it.
But I don't know if I will do it with 5, 10, ... ?

I disagree. If you want it bad enough, its quite possible to own one with 2mil. You just have to finance it properly

What I meant was would anyone instead buy 4 Carrera GT's or 2 Enzos or even 50 M3's? How high is the Mclaren on your prioruty list if you ever got the chance? And does it have to be a specific one (LM, Road Car, GTR) or any of them?

Curious to know what you call "excess cash" ?Cash that's left over for spending as you wish after the essentials are taken care of: food, clothing, SHELTER, utilities, medical expenses.

In your case you asked whether I'd rather buy a car or a house, and I said a house because it would be more useful to me than the car for an equivalent amount of money spent.

The original poster never mentioned anything about:

1. Whether or not I already had a house (as opposed to an apartment or flat)

2. How much money I had in savings, and how much my current expenses are for essential things.

He just asked if I had 1 million dollars to spend (the typical price for an F1) would I buy a F1 or a house, and I said a house. OF course, nothing is mentioned about other factors so I can assume whatever I feel like.

How much would you be willing to sacarafice for it? For example, if you had to sell your house and most of your belongings, would you still get it?

Yeah, I'm fine with the house I'm in now. I would just need a hell of a lot better garage...

Hello,

for me, if a F1 cost X€, I would buy one if I had 2X. It is quite simple.

And, I prefer an appartement at 300,000€ and a F1 at 1,200,000€ than an house at 1,200,000€ and a 300,000€ car ;)

Ciao
Phil

PS : I think you could say better your question.

The way i see it its like this how important is you house exactily you need somewhere to sleep etc.. someware to make food and take a bath and prehaps some ware to watch tv surf. which ever you prefer. Do you use outher rooms that much what do you do there mostily in most cases sleep. I would not apreciate a house like a would a F1 and an F1 would proved thrills and spills no hose ever could and every time i lookd at my F1 i would appreciate it never get bord of it a house is a lifless unmoving object. Having said that it would be a had choice between say a XJ220 most of the performace at very little of the cost or my own fighter jet spitfire or Mustang (thats the WW2 fighter) www.spirityachts.com has some nich stuff two Hmmm what would i cohose dont know but it wouldnt be a house! Althoug i cant help the feeling that if you arived in a Mclaren and found a youself a nice young lady she might be a bit dissapointed to come back to a hovel!

Would probily take the F1 but im not shore.....

After hearing what maintainance(sp) on a F1 is i dont think i'd own one...They're really nice but it's not just initial costs you have to worry about, it's clutch, tire, bushings,etc...replacements and repair.
