the mileage on my NA is haunting me ... thats too much to take anything for granted ... we only got it a few months ago for 3k ... 500 down, 300 a month .. i dont want to see my parents pissed off because they invested in a much used car and it breaks down before they finish paying it off ... just waiting for the minimum wadge to go up to 6.15 to get a job at a fast food place, 5.30 or less is too little for an hour of my time doing hard labor then i will do some major restorations and upgrades to my car

Wow, Texas must suck, minimum wage in Washington is up to $7.16 or something like that. Not that that is alot but its more.

Not that I would know anything about minimum wage. :D

yeah minimum wage in illinois just got bumped from $5.25 an hour to $6.25 an hour. that sucks dude...start applying at nearby car dealerships, preferably nissan. they usually pay well above minimum wage and you will most likely be a porter and all as they do is move and wash cars. pretty easy work for $7-$9 an hour....also you can advance your knowledge about cars.

i don't know minimum wage right now in kansas, but when i was 14, it was $5.15. as long as you take care of her, she will last you at least another 50k miles.

Don't run her too hard... finish paying her off then invest in a new engine or rebuild. She should last you to at least then...

Rendertrust, the key question is how old are you. If you are over the age of 17 then you have a fare chance at getting hired on at a dealership, moreso if you have no tickets or accidents. Try and get on as a porter or a lube tech. More as a porter. You will make starting around 7-9 dollars an hour as a porter and about 10-15 an hour as a lube tech. Its not going to be easy but its better than flipping burgers, trust me on that one.

As for the milage on your car, just keep up on the maintance change the oil every 3k change the timing belt, flush the cooling system, flush the tranny (if AT) or change the tranny fluid. At around 150k miles you will have some where components starting to go out, like the catalytic converter, the O2Ss, PCV, EGR, most of your seals. They are too bad to replace just labor will kill you on all of them. You may also have some bushings and such in the suspension starting to go out, this will be noticable by squeeking and growning noises while driving.

im 18, got my license today ... my sisters boyfriend works at the nissan dealership ... hes a salesman .. maybe he might get me a job as a porter ... sounds pretty good to me
as for the small things going out at 150k ... ive noticed the suspension seems abnormally jigly almost too stiff for stock ... i want to get a job as soon as possible to get her in normal working condition, as soon as i get tolls im going to change fuel filter and clean throttle bodies, this is a small town and my dads friend owns a car hydralic maybe hed let me use it for a short while

What do you mean to "jigly" or to stiff for stock. If its jigly then it will be loose feeling, if its stiff it will feel like you are on a skate board. Either way check your tire pressure, keep it around 32-36PSI for daily driving, I run mine at 26-28 in the summer but I like to take risks that require a bit more grip. Lastly get your alignment checked out it could also cause some of the oddities you are talking about. And one more thing, can you drive a manual, if not learn quickly, a porter will have to move manuals around the lot too, and nothing more imbarrising than asking someone to move a car for you because you cant drive it....... I am speaking from experiance on that one. GOOD LUCK on the porter position. And a quick suggestion for tools, Sears, best place on earth, pick up a 126 piece tool set, for pretty decent price, and ask for a discount see if they can hook you up. Its a good starter set, and you can do most of your routine maintance with it. Hell I use one at work to change oil on lincolns and mercurys, although I have a 1/2" impact and a couple of sockets that help out with the wheels and such.

well, that is how the Z's suspension is set-up, it is more tuned for sport, which means more road harshness. just something you have to get used to, well, i don't have to get used to it because i like the jiggle.

its fine with me, but girls tend to mention how rough the ride is ... i wouldnt mind getting some adjustable shocks that i can adjust for performance or smooth ride ... my tires are low pros ... ecsta supras ..... think they might also cause more pressure than normal tires... im soo gunna take my car to the strip at the beach with my t-tops off , some girls might jump in and feel how stiff my car is

i couldn't care less how rough of a ride women think my car is, accept it or don't. but hey, thats me, my car comes before women (shhh, don't tell my gf that).

A rough ride is part of having a Z. I like it it lets me know what the road is below me. It also helps a bit with my seat of the pants driving style from time to time. Trust me nothing scarrier than driving a Z then getting into a Lincoln Town Car and driving it on the same road, its like going from a fighter plane to a Airliner. Also, if a girl dont like it firm, then what kinda girls you talking too?!

I agree I like the stiff ride alot better than the boaty ride of some cars. And hey my 86 Z32 has 160k+ and it still runs damn good so alot of miles dose not always mean high maint. . it all depends on how well the car was takewn care of to begin with.

well atleast i smoked a stang before i had to give her up, i had some nice times with that car ... its only been like 3 months maybe 4 but that car urged me to learn more about cars and how they work .... and it taught me that ford is shit, nissan is supreme, and just because an under-rated car isnt very known doesnt mean it sucks ... the Z has forever changed my life, cant wait to get a job and get another one

theres a Z32TT for 3k, and a Z31TT for 1k in my area

expect to see alot less of my stupid replies and time wasting topics, hope the Z community continue to support one another remember our Zs are getting rare now adays so take care of em guys

a reply more on topic is that when i raced the mustang i heard a loud POP come from the rear of the car when i let go of the gas then gave it gas again .... is this normal ? my friend said its because the revs were too high, can this cause problems ?

DeleriousZ
01-31-2005, 12:46 AM
just a backfire... mine does it all the time... not sure if it's harmful or not.. i'm pretty sure it's just unburnt gas exploding in your exhaust pipe.. not 100% tho

Zgringo
01-31-2005, 01:34 AM
Hell when mine's wound out I can't hear shit. Normal driving, no problem but wind it up, forget listening to the radio.
