BALLJOINTS - best bet would be bad balljoints.

there is a way to test them, jack the front end up (front wheels off the ground) and place it securely on jackstands. then place a 2x4, crow bar, long pipe, etc under one of the wheels and look closely at the balljoints as you pry up on the tire - see if there is any noticable play, then do the other wheel the same way, sometimes the castle nut comes loose and the steering knuckle will slip up and down the on the balljoint - you will notice this when prying on the wheel.

If its not the Ball Joints Check the Sway Bar Links. Some have a ball and socket type ass. when worn makes a popping noise.

Balljoints would be the most likely problem, but Cam though up another possiblility.
