Get whatever winch you like that will fit, and go for it. chubbybubba1 01-18-2005, 08:27 PM Is it as easy as you make it sound? The winch I want is the Warn 12,000lber. But I know that won't fit. There's quite a few to choose from. Just looking for what someone else has done with the Shrockworks so I home in on just a few choices between brands and more specifically model numbers. OffroadX 01-18-2005, 08:36 PM I know someone with a Milemarker 12K electric in an ARB, so I'd figure the Warn ought to fit too. chubbybubba1 01-18-2005, 10:35 PM I'm just trying to get a head start on my choice of a winch. I need to get the bumper on first then I'll understand your optimism better after seeing the mounting location. ChuckH 01-24-2005, 09:58 AM Have you asked Schrockworks what will fit? The winch mounts very close in front of the radiator to make the bumper shorter and give a better approach angle...that's all I know. I'd be careful about trying to go too big, since even if it will technically "fit," any tiny impact might drive it through your radiator. Anyway, contact Jim and ask him. He builds them so he should know, and he's a very friendly dude! chubbybubba1 01-26-2005, 08:41 PM I e-mailed them a few days back and still waiting for a reply. Sentra Styling 02-11-2005, 02:13 PM Jim over at Shrockworks told me I should stick with 9500 or less to fit fine... chubbybubba1 02-11-2005, 03:31 PM Did he tell you of a specic model # or brand? Sentra Styling 02-12-2005, 11:44 AM Did he tell you of a specic model # or brand? Not at all he said either Mile Marker or Warn will work..They both have the same bolt pattern...I am tossing up between the two...but I might go with the Warn M8000. I'd suggest dropping the extra cash and getting a 9000. chubbybubba1 02-14-2005, 11:49 PM For sure. I'll go with the 9000LB OR 9500LB. CAN'T DECIDE ON WARN OR MM. I WON'T USE IT ALL THAT MUCH, SO ON ONE HAND THE MM WOULD SAVE $ IN THAT INSTANCE. bUT THEN WITH A WARN YOU'LL KNOW IT WILL WORK WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST. Schludwiller 02-15-2005, 04:54 AM For sure. How much is the cost savings versus a body panel, a mechanical part, a tow, hiking out of the woods? My winch has recouped it's cost several times over in potential damage and extraction. Plus it's a great tool that often comes into play when offroading. You can't compare the directional, constant control of a winch over a tug-strap, even though I use both. So do you want the one that's the cheapest? :nono: chubbybubba1 02-15-2005, 11:37 PM Your right. I'll buy a Warn. Sentra Styling 02-17-2005, 10:57 AM But what makes MM the inferior winch? It really doesn't take much to produce a winch and both companies have been making them for years... OffroadX 02-17-2005, 02:19 PM Other than their 12K winch, Milemarker uses permanent-magnet motors. They draw less current, but are also not nearly as well-suited to winching duty as the series-wound motors that Warn uses in all their winches. Ramsey switched to series-wound motors across the board not long ago as well. Milemarker just got into the electric winch market a couple or three years ago and there isn't a whole lot of history on them yet.
