hi there. paint on my 280zx?moodah 01-18-2005, 12:36 PM hi there everyone.. im new here and pretty sure im gonna pitch a tent. haha. i have a question that no-one has been able to answer so far... what is the colour on my 83' 280zx.. its that stock bronzey colour (pretty sure its stock). i got it on the 1st of january this year.. i took it to the nissan spare parts and accessories here in sydney close to where i live and they didnt have the colour in the computers, from the number that he read off the plate in the engine bay. (whats the proper wording for where its attached to... the firewall? or am i completely off here...) i need the code so im able to get some paint.. theres some small pieces of rust bubbling the paint.. a tiny piece on the front right intake on the edge where the plastic touches the hood, and on the back next to the left taillight again where the plastic touches the metal. both are hardly visible.. still i want to cut it out and do a bit of body work to it... ill post pictures for you fellas to see it as soon as i get around to it, also would i help if i gave you guys the paint code number? ill need to know what to look for though... i have a feeling its 3~6 characters long?.. ive sorta been thrown into the deep end a bit. haha. oh and also this is like wayyy off topic but thought i might ask it while im here.... if you use a higher octane fuel.. that would mean you should change the compression ratio in the engine to prevent knocking?... (and no i dont plan on using higher octane fuel).. haha and actually if some of you didnt know.. australia here has stopped importing leaded petrol.. most petrol stations are still getting 1000L shipments randomly off and on, but its slowly being phased out.. and we super users are having to turn to putting that lead replacement concentrate into the petroltank and filling with unleaded. :( anyway.. hope you guys can help! cheers. Zgringo 01-18-2005, 12:48 PM I think if you post the codes someone well take the time to find out what it is your looking for. As for the gas (petro) thing, being your car is a 1983 Zed it well eather have a N/A 8.3:1 engine or a turbo'd 7.4:1 engine. Hightest unleaded won't hurt abit in a stock engine and you won't need to change the pistons unless you planning on build your engine. Hodo 01-18-2005, 01:44 PM the paint code should be 6 letters long.... 3 letters that are the actuall paint color and 3 letters that have nothing to do with the color. "Nissan - Drivers door or on the firewall. Three letters (ex. AL0) usually followed by another letter that does not pertain to the paint code."-http://shop.store.yahoo.com/levineauto/wherismypain.html thats where I got it from hope it helps. Dog_soldier13 01-18-2005, 08:36 PM It sounds like the color on my 280 which is brown zedjester 01-18-2005, 08:52 PM I live in Aust too and I have to say my car is running 100 times better now that I am using the lead replacement fluid and using premium unleaded. Overall it is much cleaner and does not burn out your cylinders as that LRP stuff does. :D ...sorry off the topic *slap*. moodah 01-24-2005, 06:19 AM ok i wrote down all the stuff that was printed on the aluminium attached to the firewall.. and it looks like the paint code is 029 C.. someone said it'd be 6 characters.. but im pretty certain that im reading it correctly. the only 6 character combination i could find was printed next to "Type" - HGS130. i think the "C" is the trim colour and the 029 is the colour of the paint? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
