air bag warning light??jcid01 01-17-2005, 04:30 PM I did something dumb. I was trying to fix my horn and fiddled with the wiring connector below the steering column but... I was not thinking and did two dumb things: 1. did not disconnect the battery 2. disconnected the air bag connector in the steering wheel to prevent the airbag from being deployed. I reconnected everything and my horn works great but now the air bag warning light flashes. Since I really don't feel like telling the dealer what a moron I am I was hoping someone could tell me how to reset the air bag system. Thanks a lot! jcid73 joe@gibsondomaindomain.com OffroadX 01-17-2005, 07:46 PM First, once again... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=157161 Second, two procedures, depending on what year you have: 1. Put the key in the ignition 2. Turn the key to the on position 3. Wait for the airbag light to turn off (8 seconds or so) as soon as the airbag light goes off turn the key to the off position. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a total of 3 times. OR 1. Open the driver's door. 2. Insert the key and turn to ON (do not start) 3. Press the door-ajar/light switch below the door jamb at least 5 times within 7 seconds. The light will begin to flash a pattern of 3 seconds on, then a series of 1/2-second flashes, then 3 again, etc. Count the 1/2-second flashes, it describes the malfunctioning part. 2 = driver's airbag module 6 = 4WD crash zone sensor (above radiator) 7 = airbag computer 8 = passenger airbag module jcid01 01-19-2005, 05:43 PM Thank you so much!! The second procedure worked for my 2001 xterra and the light went out with no problems indicated. I must have overlooked the notice about posting questions in this forum, but thanks again for your help! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
