90 alternator belt

Squeaking noise from belt, installed new belt, run up engine the sound came back even more. I shut off engine the alternator pulley very hot, loose the belt tension to really loose, the wqueaking noise is there and pulley still hot. could it be alternator pulley bearing went? If so why is the pulley hot??

the pulley is hot because the belt is slipping, and therefore heating up the pulley. The same thing happened to me my alternator belt was always slipping and snapping. The problem was that my water pump was going and causing the tension in the belt. Not that this is your problem, but you might want to check this out. You should also try some belt dressing. That helps the belt from slipping.

Mojeans69, thankx Bro, The cause was the alternator pulley BEARING, bad bearing, switch out with new alternator, problem went away.
