1992 Grand Caravan onboard computer problems...please help!JGKC9AYC 01-16-2005, 10:52 PM I have a 92 Grand Caravan with about 140K miles. The problem is with the overhead onboard computer. It was working, then all of a sudden it went blank for about a year, then all of a sudden it popped back on, but it isn't regestering the correct outside temp & the compass stays in the same direction (with the exception of one day when it did work right, but hasn't since). None of the other functions (ETA, Fuel economy, etc) are working either. Any ideas? Suggestions? How is the overhead console removed? Any help would be appreciated. jawss 01-17-2005, 09:52 AM Have you changed anything in the last year? Remote car starter, radio/cd player etc? Usually, when this type of thing happens, its a Dodge way of telling you something else is wrong, i.e. electrical short. If I remember correctly, the overhead just pops off. Just check for screws just in case. Check all wire harness connectors for overheated wires( they usually get stiff and deformed) , also, check the plastic connectors for burn marks. Try to get wiring diagrams for your van too. They will show what other systems are connected with this console. Good luck. JGKC9AYC 01-17-2005, 06:51 PM The only thing I changed was the factory am/fm/cassette, but I had a wiring harness & didn't do any cutting. jawss 01-20-2005, 05:48 PM Well, if you suspect it could be that, just unhook it and see what happens. If no change, then pop off the overhead and check all connectors and grounds. va2gwy 01-26-2005, 08:31 PM Well, if you suspect it could be that, just unhook it and see what happens.
