Will 285/70r17 fit on the 2002 xterra SC SE stock gun metal wheels and if they do will they rub the wheel well? Or should i stick to the 265/70r17? I was lookin at the Bridgestone dueler a/t revo. Thanks

Those are pretty much a 33x11.50 tire, which will fit the wheel, but that combo won't fit on the Xterra without a lift of some sort. The 265/70-17 is the better bet, more of a 32x10.50 and will fit nicely with a little nibbling of the wheel flare behind the front tire.

Will it not fit becuase the height of the tire or the width? I have 265/65-17. i wanted to go with a wider tire than i have. I looked for 285/65-17 but i couldnt find many tires of that size.

Both really. A 33x10.50 is about as tall as can be made to fit without a lift, and a 32x11.50 is about as wide without a lift. I run 32x11.50-15 on my X, and the rear tires just manage to stuff in the wheel well.
