This is really a question for the 2000 Blazer crowd. I have the 2dr LS 4x4 and my "service 4x4" light (right side of instrument cluster) does not light up when I first turn the key to indicate whether it is working or not. I noticed this soon after I bought the truck and the dealer told me my particular VIN range does not light up on startup. Is this true for the rest of you 2000 owners? I know the 2001 and on do as I have seen them do it.

I have never heard of this, and my 99 blazer does come on. I think the guy down a the gm dealer is blowing smoke, just last week I had a sevice tech at a gm dealer tell me that I needed a new 4x4 transaxel, when it was just encoder motor...

The bulb is burn out!!!!i, It is the way manufacturer VERIFY CLUSTER IS WORKING, AND SHADY PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE OUT BULBS IE ENGINE LIGHT SAFETY RESTRAINT AND SO ON....Dto

Sorry, I don't have a 2000 so maybe I shouldn't reply, but on my '98, all of the warning lamps are LEDs soldered into the circuit board. I would think your 2000 would be the same.

I don't know the newer Blazers too well, but does it have the automatic 4x4 mode (4 button)?

My '98 Blazer is just the 3 push button 4x4 system. I see a Service 4x4 spot in my cluster, but the light never comes on. I found out that it only works on the automatic 4x4 models (4 buttons).

If nobody else replies, I'll see what my gm book says about if it should come on with the Key On.

That makes sense as mine does not have Auto 4WD either, only the three buttons. My brother has a 2001 and his lights up, but he also has the Auto4WD.

This might solved the issue then, because I have 4 button on mine.. Thought they might of been bulbs, thanks for led info...
