Anyone else have this problem when someone else is driving?
No matter how hard I stomp on it, the car just doesn't stop!

i get it with my buddy, he just got a 5.9l Dodge R/T (360ci) and his leadfood puts me on edge.

This usually only happens to me when my wife is driving.
It seems that the accelerator is faulty too. When stop lights turn green, there seems to be some kind of delay in the passenger side accelerator. Some times the light is green for a whole 2-3 seconds before the car responds!

Maybe I just need to take the car to a mechanic to have it adjusted or something?

get one of those instructor cars, they came in 1G crx's right?

Yea, things are a little boring right now. I started this thread last Saturday night (no, I don't have a life, I'm married). I'm suprised it hasn't been deleted by the moderator yet(?).

Even though this forum doesn't get a whole lot of response, I still prefer it to some of the other forums out there. At least the people who post here have actual problems that they sincerely need help with. Some of the other forums seem more like a boys club rather than a forum. All of the questions have been answered, and newbies are ridiculed for asking a question that has already been covered. This means that there's nothing left to talk about other than "who has the highest mileage" (talk about boring!).

Now I realize that if we have a page full of FAQs, then there will no longer be new contributions, and this simply will become an information page (kinda' like the '88-'91 Civic/CRX forum here). I've had many episodes with the guys at my local Sunfire dealership, you should read some of the stuff I posted in that forum! The people at the dealership are really nice and I've never had any problems with the work they've done on my wifes car, but I think I finally have them convinced that I have Tourette's syndrome (lol!).

I agree, the D16A1 post is Great! I think it has helped answer alot of questions. But when there is a whole page of "FAQ" and "read this first" to sort through before you get to a forum, it get's kinda' boring. I would be disappointed if this forum was modeled like some of the other forums that are set up that way.

Yep, her car is an '03 too. She had an "in" at the Pontiac dealership and got a great deal on a poorly designed car. As soon as the warranty is up, it's gone! We're already thinking about it's replacement, which undoubtedly will be something from Japan.

Still, I just can't stop thinking...
If only I had tried harder to talk her into that Acura RSX!

my buddys sunfire, <50k kms. brakes/rotors needed replacement. 3rd gear grinded on downshift. $3600 to fix (i should say replace 'cause they "can't" fix these trannys.) and other little quirks as well.

By the way, do you guys recommend putting a b18 with a V-TEC b16 head in my 87 Si?? I had someone the other day tell me that I was "plum" crazy and that it would blow the valve cover off when V-TEC kicked in... Honestly, I just think he is an idiot, seeing he blew a rotarty motor (RX-7) off of the line the first time he raced it. Something about a 150 shot of N20 off of the line...

Seems like a bad idea to put a smaller head on a bigger motor. But I'm no B-series expert, so this raises several questions for me: What is the CR for the B16 and B18? What is the volume of the combustion chamber for the different heads? Does the B16 head have smaller valves than the B18 head? How do the two heads compare on a flow chart?

It seems that putting a smaller head that has smaller valves and less flow on a bigger motor would be like shooting yourself in the foot, even if it does have V-TEC. It seems that there would be more posential in the larger B18 head. But like I said, I'm no B-series/V-TEC expert, this is all pure speculation. Without knowing the specs for each head, It would be difficult to tell you if it would work. Maybe someone at RPR knows, or maybe here in the '88+ Civic forums.

search LS/Vtec or some variation of that. the swap has been done many times with the newer gen guys. there is quite a bit of conflicting info on this site about it (search, lots of info in this site) apparently some guys love it, lots of power. i believe the Vtec head is comparable to the B18 head in design aside from the Vtec technology. from what i have read there is no issue with C/R or anything like that. while some guys love it others hate it with a passion, i read an entire (somewhat of a rant but quite educated) post about the con rod length in relation to the stroke i think. anyhow, the B18 block is not designed to take the power that the B16 head produces and it's a ticking time bomb to put a rod through the block. like i said, search and you shall find. as far as swapping a b- series into a 84-87, there is a mounting kit but every post i have ever read on the topic has at least one person pointing out the $3000+ price tag in the long run. i myself have never priced it out (i have a 2G, whole different story) but it sounds as though it's a pretty close figure even if you do come about a free motor.

its an acura ls bottom block with an v-tech head...it dosent have to be a b16 head..as long as its a v-tech it will work. it can be from a teg gsr,a civic si or a del sol (the expensive one..b16a3 i think..) the ls block takes a wopping and it sure is damn fast...when i bought my 87 4 door i thought it had a d16 motor swap but to my surprize,it was a hybrid.it was an ls block with a delsol head...my bro gave me his nos system...i shot 75 up that baby...the last car i raced (witch we shouldnt be doing andshould be respecting all the traffic laws...:) ) as an sti that night it went all out...wasted all the nos,broke the v-tech controler,fryed the ecu and so what...i think i wrote it in a celica article...what i dont understand is the motor mounts tey used for the car...?crazy ass puertoricans and there super unsafe custom jobs.....

Here's something I've started to research:

Taking into account that an '88-'91 D15 head will fit on an '84-'87 d15/EW block with very little modification, and also knowing that you can put a '91+ D15 V-TEC head on and '88-'91 block (called a mini-me swap). It seems entirely possible that someone could put a '91+ d15 V-TEC head on an '84-'87 D15/EW. The ECU would have to be swapped along with the rest of the electrical, but it seems that it could be done with relative ease.

I'm also wondering if the same V-TEC head will fit on an '84-'87 Civic wagon AWD block. This way the '86-'89 Integra transmission could be used with this mini-mini-me swap. The benefit of the Teggy trans is that it is geared better and has equal length CV shafts which eliminates torque steer. The AWD motor is the only SOHC D-series motor that will accept the Teggy trans. The block can also be bored to fit D16 pistons. This would essentially be a SOHC D16 V-TEC W/a better transmission!

I'm thinking about ditching my D16A1 swap and going this route. I just need to figure out the head compatability issue.

Wish I could have had more insight for you on the B-series question, but I haven't done much research on the topic of B-series mods.

I guess I'll still shove the D16A1 in my 'ol Rex just because I'm already half way there and because it desperately needs a new motor, but I am seriously researching the SOHC D16 V-TEC option. If I can find a way to make it work, I'm definitely going to try it. I'll keep y'all posted.

eldo on redpepperracing.com is doing something similar. he has the 88-91 D15 head in his shop modified to fit the EW block, still untested as to how it will actually work tho. he also has a vtec head which has yet to be modified but that will come soon. he is planning on using the vtec with a carb, basically off for the street with a stage 2 cam profile and on for the track with some crazy grind. one thing you should know lxndr, the D16A1 has the same head bolt pattern as the EW/D15. there is some sort of oil passage issue that prevents the 16 head from being put onto the EW block, there is also the DOHC timing belt tensioner issue but theoretically you could put a '91+ d15 V-TEC onto a D16A1 block and bypass the boring out if the AWD motor. and start thinking about throwing the vtec head onto your D16 :)

The reason I am aprehensive about using the D16A1 block is because of the timing belt tensioner issue. The tensioner is in a slightly different position to allow clearance for the DOHC. I'll have to do a mock up in order to find out if I can get a SOHC VTEC head on the D16A1 without too much modification.

I have also compared the head gasket from a D15A3 to the block of a D16A6 and it looks like the heads can be swapped rather easily. The D16A6 head will bolt on to the D15A3 block but there needs to be a little modofocation to what looks like the rear oil passages. This modification looks simple and would only take about 2 minutes with a Dremel, but I'll need to have all the parts in front of me to know for sure.

Anyway, since the D16A6 head will fit on a D15A3 it seems that a D16Y8 VTEC head will also fit on a D15A3 since it is a direct bolt on for the D16A6 block. Wheew, try saying that 3 times fast!

If all else fails, maybe I'll bore out my D15 and use a VTEC head. Since I've already got an '88 Integra ECU and wiring harness to run the motor, all I'll need is a VTEC controller (available from A'PEXi).


I'm goin' to the junk yard today to hunt for parts!

I'm also wondering if I need to use D16A6 pistons and a thicker head gasket. Since the D16Y8 head bumps up the CR on a D16A6 to 10:1. If I use D16A1 pistons and a D16Y8 VTEC head, the CR will be too high to run turbo. Not that I NEED to run a turbo system, I just want to. Since I already have one, I might as well use it on something, right?

Yeah.. It's best to not run too high of compression with a turbo... Keep up the work and try to keep us posted on it!

Oh, got a reply from aves911 on my suggestions. Said that he is currently swamped, but will look into the mod situation. Said he would also keep my suggestions in mind and bring them before the other mods. ;)

I might consider selling the CRX, but I haven't decided yet. It's still fun to work on, and parts are way cheaper than BMW parts, but the CRX just doesn't compare to the style and HP of the Bimmer. I'm kinda' thinking that I should turn the CRX into a full race car, then I can justify owning both since they will serve different purpouses. Also, this way I won't be kicked out of the Honda forums.

I love vintage, rare and unusual cars (as some of you already know) and this car certainly fits the bill. There were only about 10,000 of these cars made, and only about 1000 made it to the US.

Are you getting an SI motor or just a 1.5?

You can get both motors from a JDM importer. The JDM SI cars came with a DOHC 1.6L D16A1-ZC while the other models used the same 1.5L motor that we've got over here. A friend of mine got a JDM motor for his '84 CRX (for about $400) and it was exactly like the carbed motor he was replacing it with. As I remember, when we installed it some of the vacuum lines were different so we ended up using his old intake manifold and vacuum box. We just pulled the intake off of the old motor and set it on top of the fire wall with the vacuum lines still attached, then bropped the new motor in. Part of the reason for this approach is that before this swap, we had swapped a JDM motor into an his '86 Accord. Even though we labeled all of the vacuum lines before we disconnected them, we still ran into a huge headache trying to figure out where all of those little buggers were supposed to be attached.

early jdm ones came with a carb. very similar to the carb that came on canadian CRX's some early ones even came with dual carbs

OK, which engine are we talking about?

The '86-'89 1.6L DOHC D16A1-ZC Integra motors are fuel injected. JDM engine importers will not import '85-'87 Civic/CRX SI motors (also D16A1-ZC) because most people won't understand why the motor they're getting won't directly bolt into their car. The only way to get a 1.6L DOHC JDM motor is to get one from an '86-'87/'88-'89 Integra, but you will also need to swap the trans, knuckles, CV shafts, etc, from an '86-'89 Integra.

If you have a 1.5L motor (FI or carbed) your intake manifold WILL NOT fit on the 1.6L DOHC motor! The only way to run carbs on a 1.6L DOHC D16A1 motor (JDM or USDM) is to construct your own intake manifold.

The only way to get a JDM motor that will swap in and be compatable with your intake manifold without any additional parts will be to get an '84-'87 1.5L EW/D15 Civic/CRX motor. This motor is mechanically the same as the USDM version and will be a SOHC motor just like yours.

In a nut shell...
Yes the DOHC 1.6L D16A1 is an SI/Integra motor. No, they are not carbed.


Also, if you are looking for a D16A1-ZC motor, keep looking. My local JDM engine importer is asking $800 for an '86-'87 Integra motor without the trans or $1,200 with. The trannys are the same as the USDM trannys which are pretty common in junk yards for under $100. If you plan to swap in a 1.6L DOHC D16A1 you will be making a trip to the junk yard anyway to search for the additional parts needed.

You've actually seen this motor?

Ask him what the engine ID# and year is for the motor he is using. This info will be very helpful since right now we are just guessing as to what motor it could be.

Granted, I don't know everything about D16A1 motors, but I am currently building one and have done tons, upon tons, upon tons, upon tons of research on this motor. The ports on a D16A1 intake manifold are oval as opposed to round like the EW/D15, and the bolt pattern is completely different between the motors. I suppose using the carbed intake could be done, but you would have to redrill the holes for the mounting studs and port match the intake.

If it is a D16A1 motor that he is using, ask him how he got the carbed manifold to work on this motor. I'm curious because this is the first time I've heard of someone using a stock carbed manifold on a D16A1.

Did he also mention that you will need the trans, CV shafts, knuckles, shift linkage and tranny mount from an 86-'89 Integra in order to swap in this motor? I'm not trying to talk you out of this motor, I just want to make sure that you are well informed, because it sounds like this guy isn't telling you everything.

Now I have to ask, why would anyone want to starve the potential of the D16A1 by using a 1.5L carbed intake? By using this manifold you are creating a bottle neck from the carb to the cylinder head. If you compare both motors, you'll see that the intake ports on the D16A1 are considerably bigger.

If this is the case, it can't be a D16A1, unless the motors are different in Puerto Rico. In which case you should hoard all the D16A1 carbed manifolds you can get and sell them on Ebay!

If this is the case, there is no way that your stock tranny and intake manifold will bolt up to the D16A1 without major modification to both parts. Unless the motors imported to your area are different(?), but the EDM motors are essentially the same as JDM or USDM D16A1 motors.

Anyway, go for it!
Even if you have to swap the tranny and modify/construct an intake, it will be worth the effort.

Make sure the header has a good coat of hi-temp paint on them before you wrap them. A friend of mine bought a car with wrapped headers and found that they were completely rusted under the wrap. This was probably due to poor preperation of cheap headers.

Keep in mind that this forum is not so much about how many posts you have, but more about sharing knowlege. Part of the reason that many of us have a high post count is because we've been here for a while and have tried to help many people with their car problems. Then there's people like me that can't seem to stop starting off topic threads that seem to get alot of responses!

The current owner of the '69 BMW 2800CS (previously mentioned somewhere in this thread) says I can take the car any time.

I worked out a trade for the car, and since the owner is a friend of mine that happens to need some cabinets built for his kitchen remodel, I told him I'd build some cabinets in trade for his old car. This works out great for both of us since I get a $4,000 car for about $2,500 worth of cabinet work, and he gets a remodeled kitchen (which increases the value of his house) for a car he doesn't drive anymore! Anyway, the cabinets are done and I'm just about finished with the installation, so the car is mine! YEEHAW!

This means: ROAD TRIP!

well my header came on thursday afternoon. on saturday i wrapped it, made a flange for the flex pipe and some other misc things. today i installed it. the wrap does it's job quite well, the engine bay temp is much lower. the old header leaked a lot from various places so there was quite a bit noise coming from up front i also redid most everything on the front half of the exhaust so there are no more leaks. i figured that this would make things quieter but it's not, now it sounds like a fart can at about 3k coming from the tail pipe. i don't know what to do now.

Dash parts, wiring, tube and shipping will probably be around $50, but this is just a guess. I won't be able to get out to the junk yard until this weekend, so hopefully the parts will still be there. Did you ever find a passenger side skirt? The one on the red CRX is cracked at the top by the wheel well, but If you're desperate, you could do some careful cutting and glue the crack free part to yours.

back to the header/exhaust noise saga. like i said before, i hit about 2800-3000 rpm and i got a really loud farty kind of noise and it was really annoying. today i got a glass packed cherry bomb muffler (Canadian Tire Special :) ) and put that in place of the straight section of exhaust after header (it looks like a large resonator, about 26" overall length.) it improved the situation very much. now i still hear the same tone at those rpm's but it is much quieter. at about 4000-4500 rpm it starts to get pretty loud but you have to be pretty intent on moving quickly to get there so it doesn't concern me. when i am just cruising around at normal speed and acceleration the volume is quite low so i'm happy again. it only took two mufflers :)

also got new tires today. two rears to replace the bald ones that came with the set and i also got the front ones balanced :rolleyes: no more vibration at 80+ mph

When I went back to the junk yard the CRX had already been pretty well stripped. About the only useful parts left were the sunroof, rear wiper and engine block. The dash was still there but someone destroyed it getting the heater core out. Sorry.

I have a little spare time right now, so I've been tinkering on the D16A1. I rebember that you had mentioned that there is a shop in your area that does good, reasonably priced machine work. What do you think they might charge to rebuild and port my 16V cylinder head? Can they regrind the cams so I can get a little more umph out of the motor?

P.S. I've decided to just assemble the D16A1 motor as is w/o turbo. I'm really excited about the idea of building a turbo Vtec motor instead.

well the machine shop i went to turned out not to be as great as i originally anticipated. they did good work but i wouldn't bother coming up from seattle for them. however the cam grinder i went to was excellent.
his name is Geoff Bardal owner of Colt Cams.
he uses grinds he has developed over the last 25 years as a cam grinder. when i went in to his shop and set my cam on the desk he told me what year/make/model/engine size it came from and why my last exhaust lobe was almost flat before i opened my mouth. he then spent the next hour talking to me about old hondas and all sorts of stuff. he usually has 3 or 4 grinds for each motor. stage 1 will be cose to stock, 2 and 3 will be more lumpy. he also does nitros/forced induction grinds for some motors like the EW’s. with the EW’s he uses a tri flow design where one of the intake valves opens slightly before the other for better mixture.

as far as the rules go in these fora. i think you're right. i believe forum 500 (thins one being 677) is the street racing one... most other message boards frown upon street race talk.

It's just wierd... When I first drove the car in 2000, I could not just chirp the tires going into second, I could flat out burn the rubber shifting into second. It makes me think that I don't have the Si tranny... Although, putting this final drive gear with the rest of an Si tranny would defenitely be worth it in the top end. :D

*grins* We have a section of highway that has a cement center divider... At night, or during the day, it's nothing to see me flying down the road doing 95+mph. Got gas today... $2.21 a gallon... *gulps* But I got 29.5 mpg over the past week of beating the car to the limits and back! I can't be more happier!

with my car i can sit at 80mph doing ~3400 rpm in 5th. with my old motor and tranny it was ~3800 rpm

hmm...since you guys are talking about it... i got my rex up to about 110 (by the speedo, which i know isn't accurate because of my GPS, i was doing 85 by the speedo, and 80 by the gps :)) but anyway, one of my buddies in his fiero took off, down a major highway, and i needed to catch up to him, so i just wanted to see how fast i could go :D

so in 4th gear, 55 is a little over 3000 RPM's
and 5th gear, 65 is a little over 3 grand as well, i'll check tonight

but pushing it to 110 was rough, i think it was near 5000 rpms for my little carbed motor :)

I have 2 heads, one for an '86-'87 and one for an '88 that I'll be using with my motor. I grabbed the '87 head from the junk yard because I couldn't find all the parts I needed for the '88 motor. I figured I would just slap an '87 head on it if I couldn't find a distributor and ECU for the '88, since I've already got everything to make the '87 work.

Yes, all parts are for 1G CRX, 3G Civic, or 1G Integra.

The paint on the header panel was sprayed on to cover the massive amount of rock chips in the original paint. It looks like it was painted by a 10 year old, on a windy day, with a $0.99 can of spray paint. One of the mounting tabs is broken off, but the exposed part is crack free.

The cluster came out of my '86 CRX SI, I installed the glow gauges and VSS. The gauges have a silver back ground and the characters either glow green or blue depending on how you have it switched. The VSS came out of an '86 HF.

The power windows will work but require some modification. The regulator on the Integra is slightly longer than the CRX (both 1G), so you'll have to take the regulators apart and swap out the arms, this can be done by taking out the coil spring in the middle. Other than that, it seems like it will work, but I haven't actually tried.

The power mirrors will also require some modification. Part of the mirror mount/window frame on the CRX will need to be cut out in order to accept the power motor, and one of the 3 mounting screw holes needs to be moved. The shape of the Integra mirror is slightly different at the window frame so there might need to be some shaving involved in order to make it fit, but it seems like this will only be a minor modification. Also when I held the mirrors up to my CRX (when I was contemplating installing them), I noticed that the power mirrors are a bit bigger than the stock CRX mirrors, so I decided not to install them because I didn't want them to look like big Dumbo ears. The Dumbo effect could also be caused by the fact that the Integra LS SE mirrors are painted white which makes them seem bigger.

I'll see what I can do about holding on to the parts, but part of the reason I'm selling my collection of parts is to fund my engine build. Can you believe almost $600 for new D16A1 pistons alone! Also, between $300-$600 for an LSD! Fortunately the rest of the parts are a little more reasonable.

The Distributor I found has a bad bearing so the rotor doesnt turn smoothly, and I don't trust my '88 ECU because it is completely covered in rust and has some corrosion inside. I tested the ECU and it seems ok, but I don't want to have any suprises when I try to fire it up for the first time. These were the only parts I could find at the junk yard so I figured I'd better take them.

Also, I'm going to throw my FG 1G CRX front bumper into the mix.

you should be able to get most all parts for it at any parts store in canada. auxiliary fuel filter? you mean the one under the hood? i didn't think the later canadian civics had them, the cvcc ones do because it's also a splitter to feed the two floats on the carbs. i also remember seeing something on rpr.com about how the canadian cars didn't have it. i bought an 82 accord here in canada as a parts car for my civic and it didn't have one, however the 78 wagon i recently picked up does (also a canadian non-cvcc car). it may just be random enough that they can't come up with a part number.

Went to the junkyard (always fun by myself, but even better with someone else who shares a common interest). Picked up a few D16A1 parts.
Recieved D16A1 block guard (to replace the one my friend made for free that didn't work).

All in all, this was a pretty good weekend!

Oh yeah, I had an EXCELLENT weekend!

Saturday:
Had a huge 30th birthday party.
Got hammered.

Sunday:
Recovered from birthday party.
Painted CRX.

Monday:
Made a new friend from RPR.
Got to see Sonny's old CRX in person. http://www.muller.net/sonny/crx/
Traded some parts, got an EDM 1.6L SI badge and some D16A1 ZC cams.
Went to the junkyard (always fun by myself, but even better with someone else who shares a common interest). Picked up a few D16A1 parts.
Recieved D16A1 block guard (to replace the one my friend made for free that didn't work).

All in all, this was a pretty good weekend!sounds like a fun weekend. my weekend consisted of bottom sanding and painting a boat, not a lot of fun. but on the bright side the weekend cruise in car meet has started for the season so i got to see a lot of nice cars and burnouts :D

How many posts does it take to become an "AF Premium User"? I thought it was somewhere around 700, but if that's the case, (not so) cvcc_wagon should be one!

It's a toilet mat being used as a floor mat. I thought it was funny because it reminded me of my grandfather's car.

Anyway, I just took some pics of my freshly painted CRX (and some other parts and stuff and junk), so I think I'll use that as my avatar for a while. As soon as I can figure out how to get the pics off the camera and into the puter I'll post 'em. No matter how hard I shove, I just can't seem to get the camera to fit into the flopy drive!

not sure if any of you guys are familiar with eldo at rpr.com but anyhow, he has been tinkering with his crx for quite a while now. first he ran some dual sidedraft carbs, then it was a downdraft 650 Holley, lately it has been a tweaked stock carb (he was the original guy to figure which vacuum lines to rework). all along he has had a nitrous system hooked up (well, after the sidedraft setup) and has run as much as a 100 shot (already blown one motor doing that, the current motor has taken two 100 shots with no effect in comp. and whatnot). why am i saying all this. well he's done hat most said would be impossible, he's running a t25 turbo blowing 13 psi through a stock carb, no box, just through the carb. the vacuum secondaries have been converted to mechanical. he took me out for a run on sunday and let me tell it's a really weird feeling to have the tires smoke when he floored it in 4th (not shifting into 4th, just in gear, running at about 55 mph) the amount of pull is just stupid. we ran it with a G-Tech on slightly wet roads (really bad traction) and ran a 15.32 at 100.5 mph.

That is crazy..... I'd love to have that much torque! Maybe.... One day... When I actually get my b18 ideas off of the paper, i'll throw on a turbo! *hoots* *makes more notes on his allready full piece of paper*

Got my first speeding ticket today.

The ticket says 70mph in a 60 zone. I was actually going much faster but I greeted the state trooper in an intelligent, friendly manner and actually ended up joking around with him, so he reduced it to 70mph on the ticket. Towards the end he even complimented me on my paint job and how well maintained the car is. He told me that he doesn't see many of these cars on the road anymore, and when he does they're usually pretty beat up.

To add insult to injury, I wasn't back on the freeway for more than 10 seconds whan a rock hit the windshield causing a big round ding.

Oh well, I still had fun on my mini road trip. Even after the $91 ticket it was still worth the drive to pick up another set of Tokico Illuminas for practically free!

oops. my bro got a ticket last year just north of burlington in I-5. same deal, 70 in a 60 but was doing way more then 70

Normally these kits go for about $85+ on Ebay, and my local speed shop wants $110 for the complete kit. It will cost me about $10 for a new set of end links, but since I saved $70+, I can live with that.

I had a strange dream last night. I had moved into co-op housing and for some reason I had a HUGE collection of porn videos. Everyone in the co-op was trying to kick me out because they were taking offense to my collection. So I kept trying to explain to them that if they would just stop going into my room and watching my porn, maybe they wouldn't be so offended!

Brother almost has the carborator issue figured out, and as soon as he finishes that, he'll start working on piecing together the '92 VX front end onto his '85 CRX... It will defenitely be a 'one-of-a-kind' type deals... Might even look pretty sweet.. We'll see. :D

So here's my dream from last night:

My wife and I are riding a bus. We're sitting at the back of one of those long articulated busses and we have a ton of boxes. The bus makes our stop and I help my wife stack up an armload of boxes. She pays the driver and gets off the bus while I'm still wrestling with more boxes at the back of the bus, trying to hold them all in my arms. Then the bus starts to drive away and I start yelling "STOP, STOP"! The driver stops in the street and I'm still wresting with the boxes, people are starting to get agrivated, but no one wants to help, then the bus driver decides that he's not waiting anymore and starts driving away.

I pull the "stop" cord then start making my way up to the front of the bus with an armload of boxes (it's difficult enough trying to get to the front of a bus free handed when it's moving, try doing it with an armload of boxes!). I'm dropping boxes everywhere and STILL no one will help. The bus makes the next stop, by this time I'm kicking boxes to the front of the bus and people are starting to yell at me! I start yelling back while unloading my boxes, then someone says something inappropriate and I make him an offer to settle our dispute off the bus.

I finally get all the boxes off the bus and at this point people are screaming profanities at me because I have single handedly made them 1/2 hour late! I turn to pay the driver and all I have are two $50.00 bills! He says "put it in the box"! I then ask him if the box will give me change for a $50 and he says "NO". I tell him that there is NO WAY I'm giving him $50 for the bus ride because if he had waited, and let me off at my original stop, my wife would have been able to give him exact change!

I hear people on the bus yelling and I wake up, swearing that I'll never ride a bus again!


What does this mean?

Ummm.... You and your wife are so completely loaded down, and you are able to help your wife with some of her stress, but in the long run, you can't find anyone to help 'carry your load'... Maybe you should find some good friends that you can 'unload' your stress on?

Oh, and for the car, I don't get much of a chance to check e-bay, so I didn't get to see it. But my brother actually wants to use the corner lights, and his will probably look a little different than that, seeing as he's not quite a professional yet. This is his major practice, mind you. ;)

Practice it might be ,but practice makes perfect and that is what the car will be.

It seems to be complete and in good condition except the passenger side door is dented (not badly) and the passenger side window is missing. Do you know anyone who needs some parts? I took some pictures with my camera-phone if you want to see it, and since it is still in the holding area it will be about a week before I can get any parts.

i'm assuming it's just a civic and not a wagon? either way, i have most all the parts i need for under the hood. all the body work i'm doing involves new metal and some not so stock modifications, most of the big stuff is already done. if you can find out what year it is and whether or not it's a CVCC or a 1200 that would be great.

i have not yet taken the time to strip the paint off my hood but i have a suspicion that it was bondo'd at some point so i may be interested in a new one if it's in good condition but it will have to be a 78/79 CVCC civic.

if it's a 77 or earlier i may be interested in the bumpers as they don't have the plastic corners but only if they are in pretty good condition. also the running lights on the front fenders, one of mine has a mismatched lense, if they are in good condition i may be interested.

other things i am looking for are wagon front doors (mine have some dents in them, i can fix them but dent free ones would be ideal) and a chrome wagon roof rack.

ummm...do any of you guys know how to test out and properly instal an msd 6al ignition....
i really suck in the electrics deparment...i always end up burning somthing then puting it right...damn....it really sucks....

I'm pretty sure it's a '78 or '79 since it has the rubber bumper caps, but I won't know which year until I can get up close to it. I think I can barely make out a CVCC emblem on the back of the car in the picture I took. And yes it is a Civic, not a wagon, but I'll keep my eyes open for the parts you need.

Didn't pay too much attention to the motor, so I don't know. If you really want to know, I can go back and check (any excuse to go to the junk yard is a good excuse). Someone had swapped the motor and wrote on the bottom side of the hood the year of the motor, part numbers, and other relevant information for the '82.
